Ultimate luxury on the beach - Thalpe, Sri lanka

After being guided around ancient cities, climbing Sigiriya rock, celebrating the peace so long for with the local people in Dambulla, our excellent guide and chauffeur, Sanjeewa (www.sanjeewatours.com) drove us to this haven of luxury ... The Frangipani Tree.... on the beach at Thalpe, very close to Unawatuna on the South Coast of the beautiful Island of Sri Lanka....we were greeted by the manager Mr Warne who escorted us to our well appointed and very luxurious bedroom and bathroom. The sound of the waves just outside our windows was instantly relaxing and a perfect remedy for instant sleep. We were welcomed with a delicious basket of fruit, much needed after our long journey.
Everthing at Frangipani is truly wonderful, nothing is ever too much trouble, we were wined, dined and made more than comfortable.
The beach is an ideal place to walk, watch the fishermen sitting on their sticks, pick up shells and then return to the absolute luxury for a swim, freshly squeezed juice or whatever your heart desires.
The bathroom was all I had every dreamed of, a huge wet room shower, a stone bath that could accommodate even the tallest person comfortably, double basins and a view when you open the shutters of the most beautiful beach...the sound of the waves is so relaxing as you lie in the bath by candlelight.
I would not hesitate to recommend this stylish hotel to anyone, but it would be especially special for a wedding or honeymoon, or for those wanting a quiet relaxing time after the hectic activity of exploring the delights of the beautiful country - Sri Lanka.
