Serviced apartments for people looking for more permanent housing. Or for the extended stay single consultant, content with the basic no frills accommodation. I can’t see how the Hilton has anything to do with this, other than possibly having a financial stake in it. As a hotel, I would rate it 3 stars max. And as an apartment complex, semi-luxury at best. Has a reasonably priced restaurant and bar in the lobby, and a well stocked grocery store next door.
I stayed here with colleagues on a humanitarian visit in Feb 2005. It is a wonderful facility.
Fantastic people (Felicita in guest services was a wonderful help to all of us as were the other employees at the property.) The rooms were wonderful, fantastic views if you are higher up, more room than you would ever need in each apartment, and very central to Colombo. Nice restarants and shops in the facility as well. There is also a nice grocery store next door to the hotel which is very handy since all the rooms have full and complete kitchens.
One more note, the pool was wonderful---swim first thing in the morning and you'll soak up the solitude as the day begins. I believe we paid about $90 CAD a night and I'd have paid double that if not more!
I highly recommend this property and would stay here again without hesitation.
