The New Guest House: Somewhere Else to Stay

There's a new place to stay in Moragala, which is brighter, cleaner and altogether more salubrious than the Government Rest House which previously had a monopoly on accommodation in Moragala. Catering for local weddings, western tourists create quite a stir.

When I find my notes I’ll add the name and number of this place but you can’t miss it and unless there’s a wedding on it's very unlikely to be full

The Government Rest House

The Government Rest House, which is part of a series built by the British all over the Island, is little more than a drinking den popular with local men (we got drunk with a group of off-duty police officers). Foreign visitors are very rare indeed, you can stay here but the rooms are dark, grim and full of mosquitoes (there’s nowhere to hang a net in one room so get the other one).
