i stayed at ocean villa view with my husband and friends june 2004, we had a wonderful time. the staff and even the boys on the beach who we did trips with where wonderful people so friendly and helpful. we would like to know if any one has any news on the saftey of terance and susantha who where bar staff often working the pool bar . also really concerned for the saftey of shelton who worked from the beach we used his taxi service several times and also went to his home where they made us very welcome. we will defienately be going back to sri lanka and will stay at ocean villa again.

I spoke to Shelton (aka Santha) on the phone on New Year's Day and have since had a letter from him.
He and his family were on the beach and survived by running into the upper stories of the hotel.
Haven't had full details of the damage but his house (which was just across the railway behind the hotel) is intact.
Alot of the locals gather at the beach in the evenings and light a big fire,my husband and i were watching the gorgeous sunsets when they invited us to join them.We had a great night drinking the local brew,singing and dancing and just talking about our different ways of life.
Don't leave Sri Lanka without trying a King coconut,its a lovely drink and is great for an upset stomach and is even better cure for a hangover.Sri Lankan's use every part of coconuts nothing goes to waste,also its where the local drink arrack comes from.
Sri Lanka's south west coast has a lot to offer as well as the other regions.Its a great place for sailing,swimming,diving or just relaxing on the best beaches iv'e ever seen.

We saw the most beautiful sunsets ever in Wadduwa.We met the most lovely local people you could ever wish to meet and had a fantastic stay there.

Wadduwa is a small but very charming town,The sights to be found around Wadduwa include coconut groves,rubber plantations and cinnamon groves and its only a two hour trip from colombo.
