View from mountain looking down at hotel by Arm-Chair-Hero This is a most fantastic hotel in a most fantastic area in the national park. The hotel as you can see has a swimming pool and tennis court in the roof.....in side the hotel has like a triangular area in the middle that was used for aboriginal dancing displays at the night time. It is well worth a visit up the east coast of Taiwan and heading towards Hualien. I will have to consult my travel book and try to get exact details on the location and prices for this hotel.....I will try and do this because it is well worth a visit.
The area around this hotel is truly stunning and the drive up there too. You will pass through mountain tunnels that will be quite scary at times but worth the trip. Theme: HotelComparison: about average

Hotel on mid east coast by Arm-Chair-Hero There are many hotels in Taiwan that vary quite a lot in price and standard. Its no problem at all to find somewhere to stay in the big cities but you might be faced with problems if you dont speak Chinese. It has to be a must that you have air con in your room.
Pretty good travel packs come as standard. The hotel in the photo was on the east coast and was quite nice....I was happy with it, clean safe and quiet. Most of the hotels dont look like this though, they are you typical stereo type image you might already have. You can rent a room for only three hours or so if you just need some where to freshen up and shower etc etc....not as daft as it sounds in this hot country. Theme: HotelComparison: about average

by keeweechic There are many good hotels from Low budget to luxury and most are centrally located. On my first visit to Taiwan I stayed at theFortuna Hotel (Chungshun), a few blocks up from the Taipei Railway station. This was a tourist class hotel and very clean and tidy. My next visit on partly business and I was booked into the Grand Hyatt - a very very nice hotel but further away from the city centre. by SLLiew Excellent small comfortabl business hotel, conveniently located at where I had to go. The southeast industrial suburb of Taipei. Outside the hotels are several streets of small restaurants of different international cuisines. The closest MRT is Ching An MRT. From there, could go around Taipei quickly by metro.

by MacKiwi Standing on a hilltop overlooking Taipei and the Keelung River, the GRAND HOTEL is one of the most stunning hotels that I have ever visited It is constructed in Chinese Palace architectural style. Listed as one of the leading hotels in the world, the Grand is a 13-story building combining the fineness of traditional architecture with modern concepts. The inner decoration gives a touch of the elegance of Chinese Palaces, while from the Grand Plaza in front of the hotel one can have a fab overview of the city which can be fascinating, especially at night It's pricey but go and have a look around even if you can't afford to stay there (or the company expense account does not stretch that far!!). by TravelBug_sg ** Pls note this is not the same as Star Hotel*** Highly recommended. But note that they are very strict about the checkout time. 1pm means 1pm. You cannot stroll in at 12.55pm, take your time to collect your lugguage, and then plonk your key to the receptionist at 1.05pm. They will still charge you the NTD100 for every half hour or part thereof..... For information on the hotel contact details, please go to the Taiwan Tourism Board at Shenton Way, UIC Building. You should make a direct booking with the hotel via telephone (cheapest!) or via online. Taiwan Visitors Association, Singapore Office 5 Shenton Way, 31-11, UIC Building, Singapore 068808 Tel : 65--6223-6546/7
Breakfast is included. Simple food like porridge, and little dishes (cooked ham slices a la Taiwanese sausage style and taste; eggs; peanuts; pickles) as well as Western diet of square pieces of toast, with packets of jam, butter, milk and cereal. The highlight is the coffee - it's DIY on a Saeco espresso coffee machine! Unfortunately, the set the grind to be too coarse, and the coffee was not strong enough for me. I love strong coffee - imagine, one of my fave coffee is Turkish Coffee. Every room has LCD TV! Yippee1 With lots of channels too, local ones, Taiwanese, Japanese, Korean, as well as cable ones like HBO, Cartoon Network, Nickelodean. Sure to please the entire family! Word of warning! While surfing, we found 2-3 channels showing objectionable R(A) material. Yep. Those with children, be warned! Don't let them handle the remote!!!!! Our room has jacuzzi jets in the bathtub! Perfect for a full body soak and to pound away all that tired muscles, at the end of a hard day of shopping! Hotel Room by kyoub We made the best of the bad situation and settled into the Airport Hotel which is on the upper floor of the airport. It was not fancy but very comfortable. Of course, after our 12 hr flight to get there, most anything would have been comfortable. There was a lounge across the hall from our room that had reading material, coffee, tea, and snacks, 24 hrs a day.
The window in our room faced the highway going to and from the airport. It was amazing how few buses, cars, and bikes that we did see. It was almost like a ghost town. Theme: Hotel
