Well, the owner told me that he is not given this discount to everyone.... it is only for book lovers. But I think it should add another reason, the owner's mood.
Quality bookstore claimed that they sell the cheapest books in Taiwan... not sure how true it is, but if you are lucky, you get good discount as I got. Normally, customers get at least 20% discount from the selling price, which is more or less the same with other bookstores, but when the owner likes you, you get a fantastic experience here.
There are some critics too. Some says the owner give good discount to pretty ladies only (wierd, I am a man with dirty look, I still got the discount), and the owner like to stamp the bookstore's mark on sold books (it is ok for me as a souvenir from this wierd bookstore).
The most incredible behavior of this bookstore is the owner always say, if you don't like the book, as long as it is not written anything, not bent... return to the bookstore, you get refund.
30 years of business, they never expand the shop, never renovate the shop, and still survive.... wierd!!!! Books, but only Chinese books. What else you expect from an old bookstore in Taipei apart from Chinese books??? God knows
When I was a small kid, my grandma took me to visit her friends, go totemple, and buy something all moved by bus. It was the olny choice by that time being. Sometimes I had to wait ages for the coming of bus. However, that thing has become history.
With the development of MRT system, buses now aren't that important. Most of Taipeians take MRT more often than bus. But buses now ar much more comfortable to take than it used to be.
Now it has TV and electric imformation, passengers can realise where they are via the board. To encourge us use public transportation, people taking both MRT and bus within two hours can get a 50% off discount. Why not try!?
Located on the 11th floor of SOGO Departmental store in Taipei is a Cantonese restaurant serving delicious dim-sum and other Cantonese dishes. The interior of the restaurant is tastefully decorated in yellow. The service staff are warm, friendly and attentive to your needs. There are set menus of varying prices, but the most value for money is the menu going for NT280 which gives you rice, soup, chicken, vegetables, cod fish and dessert.
The set menus are in Chinese but there is English translation in the ala carte menu. Don't be too bothered about how the dish is being cooked - just order it and enjoy the strong southern Chinese flavours. Pan fried chicken in honey sauce, cod fish, taro yam balls, sharks fin soup with scallops.
