Best hotel if you are using public transport

Location is excellent. From Taoyuan International Airport, we took a bus Guo Guang and paid NT 125. The service terminated at the Taipei Main Railway Station so we just had to cross the road to get to the hotel. Very near the Taipei main railway station so it is very convenient if you need to take the subway, normal railway or high speed railway. Two doors from the main entrance on the right is a good place to try breakfast the Taiwanese way.The downside was the front desk service. They were sullen and unfriendly. No smiles. disappointing!"

Unique Quality: Rooms were clean

Just opposite Taipei Main Station

We came back to Taipei from Hualian by train. Stayed 1 night here. Cost NT4000 for triple room excluding breakfast. More expensive than we stayed in Rainbow. This is a 4 star hotel. Took a Guo Guang Bus to airport. When walking out of the hotel, just turn left, walk straight and will reach the Guo Guang bus terminal in 10 mins. Bus fare is NT125 one way. Cosmos Hotel in Chinese is call Tian Chen Da Fang Dian.

Unique Quality: Very near to Taipei Main Station. The hotel has an ice cream parlor. Hotel guest can enjoy 20% discount. The ice cream taste more like sorbet to me.

Located Next to Taipei Main Station

Conveniently located at the heart of the Taipei Main transport hub, Taipei Main Station.
Rooms are rather small compare to other same rating hotel in Taipei. Only double beds are available, Europeans and Americans would have difficulties. Breakfasts are standard western & local cuisines.
Underground mall are nearby, if you have difficulties in speaking local language, don’t worry, western fast food are available at the underground mall which connect straight to the Taipei Main Station which is a bus hub, high speed train, local train and MRT. 7-11 convenient stores are located just a footstep from the hotel.
During my last visit, English speaking staffs are added in order to provide assistance to English speaking tourist. Money changers are available at the lobby of the hotel. Even tour guides for day trip are available at a price.
A walking distance to one of the Japanese Departmental stores, a digital mall which sells from electronic to computer appliances and also the famous book street which I believe majority of the books are in local languages. During night time you can wander around the hotel side, which you can find some famous local snacks available.
Recommended.

Excellent Location

Website: www.cosmos-hotel.com.tw

Taxi for 3 from Taoyuan International Airport to hotel was NT$1200

Taxi for 3 from hotel to Taoyuan International Airport was NT$1100

Family Triple room: NT$4300 for 1 double & 1 single bed, 14th floor, view to Taipei Train Station 台北火車站

Length of stay: 12 nights

Complimentary: 3 bottles of water everyday

Buffet breakfast: NT$120 with room, NT$300 without room, 3rd floor

Buffet breakfast description:

Table 1: bread slices, buns, 4-slice toaster, toasting machine, butter, peach jam, strawberry jam, cereal, cold milk, little soy milk bottles, muffins (chocolate, etc)

Table 2: plain congee, various condiments for congee (kimchi, peanuts, preserved leeks, etc.), hard boiled eggs, pasta (varies from day to day: warm bacon rigatoni, cold tuna pennoni, warm wide rice noodles, cold thin wheat noodles), steamed ham slices, rice vermicelli, steamed taro root, baked squash, fried then steamed vegetarian tofu skin roll, hard tofu (look like eggplant pieces), stir fried yu choy, stir fried sui choy with dried shrimp, eggplant.

Table 3: fruit varies form day to day (local Taiwan bananas, watermelon, guava, orange, pineapple, starfruit), vegetables (alfalfa sprouts, etc.) to create own salad & dressing (Thousand Island, etc.)

Table 4: fried rice, varies soups (preserved radish, corn)

Table 5: hot noodle soup made on the spot, scramble eggs (with choices: ham, mushrooms, onions, peppers, etc) made on the spot, fried eggs, steamed small red bean paste filled buns, steamed taro root buns (no filling), steamed white buns (no filling), steamed whole wheat buns (no filling), hot black tea, hot milk, sugar, honey, 2 Switzerland coffee machines (put cup in place, move spout down, press button for expresso, coffee or cappuccino, wait until green light stops flashing before lifting spout and removing cup), orange juice, guava juice, ice lemon tea, hot/warm/cold water. Voila!

Card is turned over when table in use. Waitresses are always alert to pick up empty dishes and cups. Turn card over to the other side when you are finished eating so that the waitresses know to clear the table.

Hotel service was excellent. Only needed to call for missing Kleenex box one night; missing bottle water and paper slippers on another night and they forgot to clear the garbage cans and wash the glass cups one night. We were locked out of our room (magnetic card) on the 10th night because their computer system only accepted a maximum of 9 nights stay but the porter took care of the situation immediately. Leaving for airport, hotel porter & young nice lady (who also spoke Cantonese) were very kind to wave a taxi for us. The nice lady even confirmed on the taxi fare and checked our airline tickets for the correct Airport terminal floor for us.

The only thing we didn't like was the air conditioning being turned off (to save energy) when you leave the room. So if there are any germs lurking around, it'd be there when you re-enter the room again. Plus the air conditioning temperature varies by itself depending on the time of day although there is a temperature control and various fan speeds (off, low, medium high).

HI,

Cosmos is in a good location.

Take the Guoguang Bus directly to Taipei Main Station, walk straight down to the Main Road, Turn Left , and the Hotel is a minute away. (Fare NTD125/- per head only)
You have food all around you: IN the Taipei Station, In the Underground below you, On the Zhongxiao W Rd Left and right of you. Across the Road in the lanes beside and behind Singkong Mitsukoshi.

Most tourist sites can be reached by the MRT. What is it that you like to see and do?? Any girls or women with you that need to shop?? What age group??
