Guard-Switching
by THLIN
Well, just like any other country, in CKS memorial hall, provost guard switch hourly. I think Taiwanese provost guard is well-trained and quite nice to see their performance. ( Although this is a serious situation. )
Next time, you visit Taipei, just take MRT to CKS Memorial Hall station, besides seeing magnificant Chinese architecture, please enjoy our provost guard-switching.
Latino Salsa Bar
by kunchik about Latino Salsa Bar
It was kind of quiet when I went there, but it was during the week and it's open every night until 5am.
The owner is Tony Chen...friendly guy who'll teach you Taiwanese salsa! :)
You pay a cover to get in but then all drinks are free. The cover was roughly $15USD. Stick to the bottled drinks...cocktails weren't so good. Casual.
Railway...
by THLIN
Taipei is usually regarded the centre of Taiwan whether economically or culturally. For most tourists, Taipei is a good starting point if you plan to travel around the island. One of the safest way to move about is to take train since you don't need to guess if it's the correct location for you. The railway system is widely spread islandwide from Keelung to Pintung. There are three different types of ticket prices. ZiQiang is the fastest meanwhile the most expensive; Zhuguan is the middle, while Fuxin is cheap and very slow. If you really want to taste Taiwan from one station to another, otherwise, Fuxin is not a good choice to take. Now the Railway company are launching Taroko Train that travels directly from Taipei to Hualien, a place famous for holiday resorts.
It's very easy in Taipei to get to the Main Station, take MRT to Taipei Main Station and you can connect from Taipei MRT to Taiwan Railway seamlessly.
Taiwanese aboriginal cuisine!
by Hui-Hui about Da Lu An Aboriginal restaurant
It's a Taiwanese aboriginal restaurant invested by a famous Taiwanese professional baseball player. The decoration is very original and natural with woods and rock and all the dining utensils are made of pottery. The waitress wear traditioinal Taiwanese aboriginal clothes and serve well. They are willing to help customers order dishes. The dishes are generally aboriginal with natural delicious taste. In addition there is a stage in the restaurant and every day some aboriginal singers sing there. It's great to enjoy nice atmosphere, good food and pretty singing at the same time. I love mountain balsam pear with salty egg, fried baby bee with peanut and BBQ on stone with aboriginal salad there. Balsam pear is bitter but it matches salty egg very well. Fried baby bees look awful at the first sight but actually they don't taste like worms. They are just cirspy and like beans. BBQ on stone is definitely my favorite! The meat of mountain pork is so delicious without fat. The moutain salad also goes very well with grilled pork! By the way, don't forget millet wine. It's sweet, tasty and good for health.
