F&E Taiwan

by caroline3sg

I hesitate to go F&E Taiwan. Can someone answer my queries?

1)When at the rail platform, how to know that is the train that we are supposed to take to our destination?

2) For theme park tickets, how to buy in advance?

3) Will there be problem getting transport from theme park (Leofoo & Window on China) back to Taipei hotel? If assuming going by rail (ie Taipei Main Station to Zhongli Station) then change to Hsinchu bus. How to find out exact location of bus stop at Zhongli Station? Hsinchu bus start from Taipei East, it will be a long journey (not sure how long, but I guess around 1.5 - 2 hrs).

4) Wufenpu - I heard that they sell in bulk. Would they entertain tourist who buy a few pieces?

5) Any local tour agency to recommend for northeast coast tour?

Thank you

1) There are signs (in English and Chinese) on the platforms. It is actually fairly easy to get around on the railways.

2) + 3) You can buy a ticket and bus set from the bus operator (tailian). Their phone number is (03)425-5722. Buses leave from Songshan Airport, Zhongxiao dunhua, gongguan, jingan MRT stations.

4) Not sure what you are asking. Wufenpu is just a shopping district, you can buy individual items there. If you are asking about a discount, then maybe, usually there is some room for negotiation.

5) http://www.edison.com.tw/einside.htm

I am not recommending them because I have never used them, but I know they are quite popular. You could always take the train to Fulong and rent a bicycle and explore by yourself.

Thank you taiwanstories.

Tailian bus start from the east. I thought of staying at Caesar Park Hotel which is at Taipei Main Station, easier to move around. And taking rail to Zhongli can cut short the travelling time.

What to bring!

by devmicha

Most places in taiwan have no closet or storage so be careful and don't clutter yourself up with too much baggage. try shopping on arrival 9Keep in mind that asian sizes are much smaller than western sizes and it may be very difficult to buy pants!! It is hot hot hot and muggy is the summer. If you are not too worried about pollution it is a good idea to wear tanks and t-s because there is less to stick to you (and it WILL stick!!)
The wintrer stays fairly warm but it is humid and there is no central heating. If you arrive in the winter it will seem fairly warm but after 1 summer the winter will be FREEZING by comparison.
Always have an umbrella handy 9especially May-Aug). Taiwan is NOT well stocked in deoderant. if you choose to wear anything other than rol-on you will want to bring this with you. There are pharmacies and toiletry shops all over the place but they are a tad expensive.
*Girls will want to bring their own anti-fungals.
*It is a good idea to bring an emergency supply of ay medication you will need (incl. ASA. Acetamenophen or Ibuprofen).
It is very difficult to find any anti-histimines.
It is also a good idea to bring insect repellant and sunscreen. There are some beaches not too far away from the city. you may find them polluted but other than that... You will want your regular beach equipment (most will have a place where you can change and shower) and some money (for entry fee and eating!)
Don't forget to bring bottled water (*same goes for everywhere in taiwan.)

CKS Airport

by deeper_blue

CKS Airport is west of Taipei near Taoyuan, entry requirements are more relaxed than China, the majority of visitors don't need a visa for a 30 day stay. You can fly from Hong Kong with Eva Air or China Airlines.
