Hi,
Has anyone been to the Lavender forest in Taichung? I'd like to know how to get there and if the trip is worth it.

First, you got to take train from Taipei to Hsinchu Train station (Not HSR). Then, out from the station and walk to your right on Hsinchu train station. Look for the Hsinchu bus terminal "Hsinchu Ke Yun" and board the bus to Jhudong at NT50. At Jhudong, take train to Neiwan at NT18 per way. Once you are at Neiwan, look for the Neiwan old cinema, then walk to the left of the cinema and follow the way until you reach the shop selling Smelly Toufu. At there, you can board the bus to Lavender Cottage at NT100 (2 way)
Lavender farms (with theme shop and restaurant outlets) are Shin-she (Taichung County), Jianshih (Hsinchu County) and Mingteh (Miaoli County).

Taiwan struggles between traditional life and rapidly changing modern urbanity. Old-fashioned markets selling fish and meat lie alongside modern department stores, and traditional teahouses are next to a McDonald. Taipei is a hectic and crowded city and was extremely polluted during the 70s and 80s. From what I heard, Taipei has improved and is not as dirty as twenty years ago. The picture shows the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial.
At the end of the war, a bureau was established to rebuild the port and since then has become one of the major ports in the World with some 50 odd wharves. Not only do cargo ships use this port but also there are 2 passenger terminals for both domestic and internal cruise liners.

I think it is an increase in Singapore Tourist to Taiwan as Jetstar Asia is providing budget airfare from Singapore to Taipei....
I spend SGD388 but it is a very late booking, some said they got around SGD200++ for a return trip.... it is pretty cheap.... I think as long as early booking, you can get a good deal.
