How far and how is the weather ?

by STSIM

I would like to know how far from Taipei to kao shiong ? and will it be very cool if I go on November ?

Re: How far and how is the weather ?

To STSIM:

1. From Taipei to KaoHsiung, it depends on what transportation you take for the trip. A. HSR(High Speed Railway)-take 120 minutes around the trip.
B. Train-take about 5 hours around the trip(Tze-Chiang Limited Express).
To see train class list, please copy and paste the URL below:

2. It's not very cold yet, degree may climb up to 25 around in day time, and it drops to 15 in night time.

Have a good trip!

Best regards,
Xiao Chou

Travel Tips for Taipei

Err.. I spent few days in...

by asiboro

Err.. I spent few days in Taipei but early morning to late night work did not give enough chance to tour Taipei. The only sightseeing I did was going to the National Palace Museum (http://www.npm.gov.tw/), the world's largest collection of Chinese arts and treasures. I've been to Beijing, China and its the Forbidden City, but being the largest this one is a must-see if you are interested in the history of China. It is just unimaginable how the nationalist brought this vast amount of collection from far away in the north of the mainland.

Jiufen's food

by yukisanto

If you are going to Jiufen, remember to buy the Taiyang bing, the pineapple tarts and mochi from this shop there ont he main street. It's much cheaper than in Taipei. And much fresher too, since these are handmade daily. if you buy more, the boss will give you a discount or throw in a few more foodstuff for you. Cost: taiyang bing (10 for NT100), pineapple tarts (24 for NT220), all handmade daily so it's quite fresh. I saw those in Taipei going for much higher prices and they're factory made. And most importantly, doesn't taste as nice as the ones I got in Jiufen.

The Eastern District

by lhe about Shogo and Many Others

The district on ZhongXiao East Road around Shogo is another major shopping district in Taipei. Here you got two Shogo stores - one for the general public, and the other for the rich. Also on DunHua South Road there is the 24-hour Eslite Books store. On FuXin South Road, there is the Breeze Center, which also worth checking out.

Excelent city maps for free

by ihaveataste4danger

Pick up your free map of taipei in the nearest mrt Station, it was way better than my 100NT map i picked up from 7-11... multiple languages including japanese etc, if they are not in the display just ask the nearest staff member, they usually have extras!

Yummy donuts

by MizBlack about Mister Donut

Should you have a sweet tooth like me, and need your dose of sugary treats, do grab a donut at mister donut. With the wide selection of donuts available, there will be something which will satisfy you. Mister donut in taipei seemed to be popular with the younger crowd and i never fail to see a long queue whenever i pass by during the weekend or on weekdays night. On average, each donut cost NT30 - NT35.
