Grand Formosa Regent

Unique Quality: Even a standard room is of a great charm. It is spacious decorated with refined furniture. The bathrobe offered was very soft to touch. Everything is in high quality in this hotel. Another quality shows in the manner of hotel stuffs, it must be the best. It is disappointing the location of the hotel is the midst of high buildings. You can not see the panoramic view unless you stay on the higher floor. Comparing it with another better-known Regent in H.K., Regent Taipei is much spacious but have less view.

The hotel is very famous for its great restaurant . There are a lot of people who come for their food . I've heard they have a lot of good cooks . A pity that I haven't got a chance to try though .

Taipei to Maokong

by Sam1860

How far is it from Taipei to Maokong by car?
Also in the 4-5 star range of hotels which one is the best for price and location in Taipei?

I stayed at the Grand Formosa Regent - good value (not cheap) and well located for transport.

It depends where you started your trip to Maokong. Generally it will take about 30-40 minutes from downtown by private car in weekdays.

As for the hotel, I suggest you can try Chinatrust Executive Suite, Peitou. Altough it is at the uptown area, it is just close to the MRT station. Thus you will not have big problems to go to downtown from there.

The website is at the below link.

The room fare for the single room in September is NTD1998 (Sunday Night), NTD 2388 (Monday Night to Thursday Night) and NTD 2788 (Friday Night and Saturday Night).

However their tripal room is very great for the family use. There are one twin room, one single room and a living room in their tripal room.

Another hotel to think about is Howard International House Taipei.

The website can be reached at the below link.

The room fare for single room is around NTD 1,800 and twin room is about NTD 3,300 in Sepember.

The hotel is located near National Taiwan University. It is about 20 minutes' walk to Taipower MRT Station.
