TAIPEI GRAND HOTEL
by ancient_traveler
The Grand Hotel in Taipei, with its traditional palace-style architecture, vermillion pillars, stately archways and brilliantly tiled roof, is not only a magnificent landmark of Taiwan but an emblem of ancient China. The resort rises 12 stories above the city and is two kilometers from Taipei Fine Art Museum and Shin Lin Night Market. Chiang Kai Shek International Airport is a 45-minute drive away. The only truly Chinese palace-style hotel in the world, the Grand Hotel offers recreational activities, with a pool and tennis court, and features international conference facilities, with 10 fully equipped meeting rooms, a conference hall and grand ballroom on the hotel's top floor.

My hubby Hiroyuki is waving his hand....Can you find him?
Yes, it ihas been my dream to stay overnight here at the Grand Hotel Taipei. :-)
22 years ago, I visited Taiwan with my parents... at that time, we only passed near this hotel.
But this time, we stayed here :-)
Looks like a Chinese palace :-)

Was also wondering, heard from a taiwanese, ChengDu Road (Ximending) is a redlight district. Is that true ? Cos Im going with a girlfriend and she's concerned abt the safety of the district.

i don't think Xi meng Ting is dangerous, it is the place of younger groups now. Actually most of the budget tour from Singapore and HongKong stays in the hotel nearby.
Xi Men Ting is also the venue where singer launch their album, schedule for this Sun Jan 9 is Ken Chu of Meteor Garden fame first single album release and Wang Li-Hung newest album.
Hotel in the Xi Men Ting area is around 1200 or 1500 a night and it is very convenient, near the MTR station

Yes,you can book online at their website. It is a very Central hotel. Lots of young Singaporeans recently also spent time there. Above the Red J letter inthe Map below. . Major Taiwan Banks in that area so security is also very good. Chongching S Road (Book Street leads straight to the President's Office)
You can check MRTMap. Taipei Main Station
