Scooters rule in Taiwan!
by mim95
Scooters are very common in Taiwan. They have special privilage over cars, eg. they have designated stop spots in major intersections in front of the traffic lights, before other cars. You can also park a scooter on the side of a sidewalk. So beware of them when walking on the sidewalk.
They go in between cars, and sometimes take short cuts by going on the sidewalk.
It's convenient to travel around on a scooter, especially in the countryside where the bus services are infrequent.

Shrlin night market or Lungshan temple market
If you're into slithering snakes, food on sticks, foot massages or cheap clothes then this is the place for you. If not, then its still worth going to check it out. Apparently snakes are attracted to black. It's your call from there!
One of the best 'Mala' hot pot around Taipei
by yukisanto about Heng Ji (Heng2 Ji4)
If you want to eat Taiwanese "mala hot pot", this is the place to go. It's beside SOGO. You get out from the Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT exit (the SOGO exit) and you will see a lane 44 (i think). The lane is between SOGO and a shop called so nice. Walk to the end of this lane, then turn right. After a few more shops, you will see the restaurant on your right.
They take reservations, but we went there on a friend's recommendation, so we didn't have any reservations. Luckily, we had a table (they're usually full). Cost us 330NT excluding service charge and the drinks for the buffet hotpot. We ate several rounds, they had a good selection of food so we kept eating..heh.
Our bill in the end was around 800NT for 2 persons.
They had nice decor, english pop music, oh, and by the way, the hotpot is either hot, medium or mild. I ate medium, and my eyes kept tearing already. (i'm a pretty good chilli eater, by the way). So VERDICT: It's really hot.
NOTE: They don't speak english.
