Possible to visit Taipei during transit?

by slyio76

Hi,

We'll be flying to Vancouver from Singapore this weekend and will be transiting in Taipei. I wonder whether we will have enough time to visit 1 place or 2 during our transit. We have been to Taipei before so only plan to visit Wu Fen Pu, 1 of the night markets or Ximending. Below is our transit details.

Arrive Taipei 1500 and depart for Vancouver at 2330
Arrive Taipei 0605 and depart for Singapore at 1605

I'm currently pregnant and my 2 years old girl is going with us, so our pace will be slightly slower. Thanks in advance!

Looks like you'll have enough time. Connecting to the city from the airport is very easy.

Thanks carteki. I just found out that Wu Fen Pu and night markets open after 12noon or 1pm. Seems like the even though the 2nd transit got 10 hours, we have to rush back to airport shortly. Then for the 1st transit, it's only few hours, do you think it's sufficient? Will there be any traffic jam? Thanks again.

Hi
Your best bet will be to contact this chap:
Mr Ian Chen
email : jazzlife1022@yahoo.com.tw
Tel : +886 958396838
If he is free , your in luck.
He charges only NTD600 for transfer to town/Hotel one way(You would pay that for the bus anyway) and Return to Airport-Same fare. If you negotiate for a All in Fee from 3.45 to 9.45pm (6 hrs) See what he charges.
The you can do Wufenpu and the Raohe St NM which is across from the and have a comfortable transit trip at your convenience.

Sorry, I don't know why I thought there were 4 adults including you :(
Anyway, Mr. Chen is quite familiar with Singaporeans now and his transfer is really quite reasonable . Many clients from the TA Forum.

Sulphur Valley

by lhe

The Yangmingshan area is abundant of geothermal activities. Besides the more famous XiaoYouKeng, you can also visit the Surphur Valley/Longfeng Valley area. The Surphur Valley is the second source for the Peitou hot springs (the first source is Hell Valley). Unlike the Hell Valley, where hot spring water can be retrieved directly, it only emits hot gas here. However the local people builded the water pumps around the gas holes, which turns water into hot spring waters. Then this artificial hot spring water is carried down the mountain by water pipes.

Girls' Pink Dream

by yatingchen about Cherry Walker

Pink, pink, pink... all is pink. The room of the restaurant is sweet, warm and creative, pink and cherry are well used.

There one can order dishes, but the most popular one on the menu is the buffet it offers. Many people especially girls come to enjoy the "pink" food. It's full of people on weekend and one is allowed for 2 hours dining. What makes it charming? Cakes.

It offers around 20 kinds of cakes. One can eat as many pieces as she likes. Besides cakes, there serves also fried rice, fried noodles, pizza, french fried, fried onlion, To-Gan, Pig-Blood-Cake, cheese baked vegetable, soda water, fruit tea, coffee etc.

The price is 199NTD (+10% service charge). It's supposed, the second important reason for being popular among students. Do you have pink dream? Fried noodles is well cooked, not normal at all.
New York Cheese cake is the finest.
Pizza are maybe not the best, but not bad.
Fruit tea is tasty.
