Taxi for hire around Yangmingshan

Hi,
We are comparing the pros & cons to take the bus 108 around Yangmingshan versus hiring a private cab. We are not that big on nature but would still wanna check out some of the main sights at Yangmingshan.
On weekdays, bus 108's frequency is 30minutes and if we cover 3 to 4 main spots on Yangmingshan, that would take us more than half a day.
Would it be easy to get a cab and negotiate a fee for him just to bring us around Yangmingshan?

Actually Yangminshan isn't all that isolated, there are many buses going around the area. So consider planning the bus tour and taking a taxi when and where needed. If you don't see one to flag down, they can be ordered by phone and at any 7-11. See the city tour Beitou map on http://www.e-bus.taipei.gov.tw

ATMs that accept US cards are very abundant and easy to find throughout the city. Just in case, get a small amount of money at the airport so you will be set for the drive into the city. Exchange rates are usually bad at the airport, so just get enough money for the trip to town (less than TW$500 for the bus)
My hotel was TW$2000. You could easily get food and drink for around TW$500 (US$15) per day if you are careful with your money and eat your meals on the street. The subway varies from TW$20-65.

Take some tea back home. The Fengpu Tea Store, located in Chungking North Road, won a lot of prizes in nationwide tea competitions for its high quality tea. The family of the present owner Jiang Ping-rung was growing tea in Anhsi in Fukien province. In 1883 his grandfather, Jiang Li-chi, opened a tea store in Hsiamen (Amoy). Later in 1922 the shop owner Jiang Li-chi (father of Jiang Ping-rung) decided to close his tea business in mainland China because of public unrest. The Jiangs moved to Taipei and opened the Fengpu Tea Store.
Inside the shop there are 100-year old scales and chops from the time of the Japanese occupation.

taking guoguang bus to Yehliou/ keelung

If you take the Guoguang intercity bus from Taipei to places like Yehliu or Keelung, pls note that you have to return the ticket upon alighting the bus. So remember to keep the ticket safely in an easily retrivable place, so that when you get down the bus, you can pass the ticket back to the driver. Don't stand there fumbing around for your tic while everyone looks at you.
Rice Noodle with Goose Meat

Of course it has to be the rice noodle with goose meat...I'm not aware of whether they sell anything else other than this dish. The goose meat comes in a separate dish with sauces.
This Hsimenting restaurant has been around for many years. And they used to sell duck meat at the beginning (hence their name), but switched to goose meat since.
