Not too sure what is your affordable price?

Hotel and Airport Transit Help

by trisanna

1.I just booked a last minute trip to Taipei, staying 3 nights arriving this friday. I have never been to Taipei before and not sure where the best place to stay is. Some of the ones i have looked online that look decent are Rich Garden, Fullerton 41, Les Suites Da-an. What does anyone think of these hotels or can someone suggest some other hotel that is central, near an MRT station. Looking to spend around 100-140 USD a night.

2. I know the question is asked again and again, but what is the best way to get into the city from the airport? Also, are taxis expensive in Taipei.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

HI<
I recommend : San Want Hotel: http://www.sanwant.com
They have a great discount coupon with the Tourist Pass (Available at the Tourist Info Counter at the Airport) Mention that to them when booking.

Deluxe Double Room @. NT3800 +10% including 2 breakfasts - This is already on offer on the Tourist Pass Coupon. Single is about NTD2960 + 10% + Breakfast.
Their regular rates are really high. This discount coupon valid till end of this month.

Travel Tips for Taipei

How Dr Sun got his revolutionary ideas (part2)

by budapest8

In Honolulu, Sun Yat Sen enrolled in the Iolani School where he learnt English,
Mathematics and Science. From absolutely no knowledge of English,
Sun Yat Sen picked up the language so quickly that he was awarded a prize
for outstanding achievement in English by King David Kalakaua.
Sun Yat Sen then enrolled in Oahu College for further studies but he
was soon sent home to China as his brother,
Sun Mei was afraid that Sun Yat Sen
would embrace Christianity.

When he returned to Cuiheng village in 1883, the scene that met his eyes
was a China that demanded exorbitant taxes and levies from its people.
The people were conservative, and the schools kept their ancient
methods -accept and not question. There was no opportunity for
expression of thoughts or opinions.

Hsimenting - the trendy shopping district

by mim95

Geared towards the younger generation, you will find all the clothing and accessories that are hit in Japan and the US in Hsimenting's many little stores.

This is where the younger crowds hang out at night. You can also find lots of inexpensive restaurants here.

It's also a good place for people watching.

Bus - Chiang Kai Shek Airport to Taipei

by Ewingjr98

I took the bus from CKS Airport into downtown Taipei. This was very easy and convenient. There is a ticket counter just outside of the international terminal where they speak English and are willing to help. A one-way ticket was TW$135 (US$4). The buses make stops at many major hotels downtown. The trip took 30-45 minutes.

There are at least two companies that offer this service: AirBus (0800-088-626) and Free Go (02-2586-3065). Free Go buses are recognized by the giant dalmatians painted on the side. Free Go has one bus route that covers all of the major hotel areas on Sungchiang Rd, Nanking East Rd, Tunhua Rd, and Cuangfu Rd near the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall. Free Go buses go to the airport daily from 0400-2230 and from the airport to Taipei daily from 0530-0130.

AirBus has four routes to different geographic areas of the city: West Line (to Main Train Station and Chengshan Rd), East Line (to Fuhsing Rd and world Trade Center areas), West Express (directly to Chengshan Rd vicinity), and BanQiao Line (to the Banqiao Station vicinity). Prices range from TWD 100-140 depending on the route.

Tai Wo Dien's "Ma La" Hotpot

by tangymp about Tai Wo Dien

"Ma La" (hot, spicy and nimberness) Hotpot of Tai Wo Dien is very famous and had been considered as one of the best in Taiwan. It's hot! It's Spicy! and you will feel nimberness at your tounge and lips, so had some preparation. But you will love it, because the feeling is so strange that you can't get anywhere else. Bean curb, pig blood, pig' skin and fried bean sheet are best for this hotpot.

Fried sausages

by dmirebella

Another street item for pickings, the sausage can be either pork, seafood or even vegetable (tofu) - simply select which and the roll is fried on the spot. Should extra spice be needed - add either ketchup or the local chili sauce. Prawn sausage
