Worst experience in Taiwan

We had planned for 9 days in Taiwan, with the first few nites spent with Silken, then one other nite in between in Hualien and remaining with Silken. As we had to return to home in the middle of the trip due to a family emergency, we returned to Silken Taipei from Hualien to catch the flight, and advised Silken that we need to cancel 3 rooms for 3 nites, but requested for 1 available room for us to repack our luggage (left at Silken hotel lobby) for an hour. As Silken was unable to advise if we could get any refund, we called hotelclub for cancellation and was told that no refund will be made, which we were fine with it and cancelled 2 rooms to minimize Silken's preparation.
However, upon arrival, as we had too much stuff and too little time to pack for the 5 of us, we had requested for 3 rooms instead, thinking we had already paid for it and for 3 nites. Silken refused our request and insisted on charging us for the additional 2 rooms, saying that they had received a prior cancellation request.

This is indeed ridiculous, we had paid for 3 rooms for 3 nites, which we were only requesting for use of 3 rooms for an hour and were refused and had to pay additional charges. As we were in a rush of time, we had to give in and accept 1 room only, so we requested for a bigger room instead but was again refused by Silken.

I would say the hotel staff are very inflexible and always quoting other websites for additional requests, which I find it totally senseless as I expect the hotel staff to see to my requests directly.

Inconvenient location, had to take cabs most of the times, which add on to the costs, also located in the red-light district, not recommended for gals-only group.
