A small and cosy hotel

Ta Shun Hotel is located a mere 2-minutes walk away from the Ximen station and the bustling Ximending district. This hotel is very popular with Singaporean travellers, during my stay, the occupants were almost 80% Singaporeans.

The hotel is not a huge establishment, and the rooms are not huge. However, the rooms are very clean (the hotel was re-renovated last year), and the service is personalized and friendly. We asked the front desk staff for suggestions on where to find good food in the vicinity, and their recommendations never disappoint us.

Prior to our trip, we had already booked the room via the hotel's online booking system. We were lucky to have secured the booking early, as the number of rooms are limited, and the hotel is very popular.

Unique Quality: The location is unbeatable! It is near enough for us to walk to Ximending, yet it also offers some peace and quiet as it is NOT situated on the busy streets.

The price is also a huge draw - we paid NT1680 per night for a double-sharing room (inclusive of breakfast). Breakfast provided is Taiwanese-style porridge (congee) with some side dishes. If you don't fancy eating the same stuff everyday, you can buy other types of food from the nearby eateries at Ximending. At NT1680, the room also comes with LCD TV (with cable and satellite channels - over 100+ channels), hairdryer, bathroom with jacuzzi, etc.

Although the rooms are small, the location, personal service and amenities provide good value-for-money.

  • Opinion of Price: less expensive than average

More about Ta Shun Hotel

Ximending's Popular Hotel

by limledi about Ta Shun Hotel

Ta Shun Hotel is another highly recommended hotel in Ximending. The staff is very nice. We booked our trip to the airport via Freego Airport Bus in this hotel. They were really nice to let us wait inside the lobby for the bus together with our suitcases. This is quite generous of them considering that we didn't stay in their hotel. They even gave us a copy of their magazine in the lobby. We were also able to use their free internet computer in the lobby. Booking for Freego bus to airport costs NT$150 per head. Note that Freego bus don't pick up passengers in Neijiang Hotel which is the hotel we stayed in. Ta Shun Hotel is just a short walk from our hotel. Nice hotel with friendly staff.

Freego Airport Bus

by limledi

We took Freego Bus from the airport to Taipei City & vice versa. Going to Taipei was a bit difficult since it will not pass by the hotel we were staying, Neijiang Hotel in Ximending due to the late hour. Instead it dropped us off in Sungchiang Rd. The bus driver was so kind as to help us find 3 taxis for 14 pax seeing that we were tourists. Freego bus ticket costs NT$140. Taxi fare NT$150 to the hotel including surcharge of NT$20 for the late hour.
Going back to the airport is more convenient. We booked our bus tickets at TS Hotel which is a short walk from our hotel for NT$150. We have to wait for the bus at TS Hotel. Even if our flight was 10:55PM yet, we had to take the bus early since the last bus to TS Hotel is 5:50PM. Bus was a bit late. Keep stopping to pick up other passengers. Halfway to the airport, we were required to change bus. Bus trip took 2 hours. We had difficulty communicating with the driver who can't understand or speak English. Finally we understood that we will disembark at Terminal 1 for Cebu Pacific passengers bound for Philippines.
Another option is to hire 2 cars good for 14 pax NT$2900.

Taipei 5 days Free On Foot & Easy MRT in Dec 2006

"Taipei 5 days Free On Foot & Easy MRT in Dec 2006"

Taipei 11 days tour, with 6 days on conducted tour & 5 days Free On Foot & Easy MRT in Dec 3rd - 14th 2006. Set up base Hotel in TS Hotel, stone throw from Ximen Station & Ximenting shopping streets. Some Things in Tapei to note......
Taiwan MRT is very cheap & easy to use...........very Good.
Crossing Roads can be difficult but just shield yourself among the Taiwanese crowd to cross road junction, otherwise use 4 ways overhead Bridges.
Taiwanese are friendly & helpful pples. They speak Mandarin & Hokkien.
Nights market is where S'porean get con & cheated when they hear your S'pore accent....so beware!
Conducted Tour is time wasting with too much time spend on Tour Coach & Train travelling over 2-7 hours to criss cross Island.
Within Taipei it is easy to reach Beitou Hot Spring, Palace Museum, 101 Tower, Taipei Rail Station, undeground Shopping Mall, Memorial Hall etc by MRT & Footwork. See Snake killing, drinking of Snake Blood & Bile in RaoHe Night Market.
Needs more photos of Taipei...just email & i have taken more than a 100.

"Taiwan MRT is very cheap & easy to use."

From Ximen station, the Blue Bannan Line take us to most places of interest. CKS, Dr Sun memo Hall, Wufenpu, RoaHe, Hwahsi, Shiling Night market, 101, NY N York & many others. Just view the many photos uploaded in my site & you get all the Easy DIY in Taipei.

"Food is Oily & expensive than S'pore by an average"

Food is Oily & expensive than S'pore by an average of 15-25% from Street Vendor to Aircon Food Court. Very interesting Foods in most Night Market, put on 2 kilos just after 6 days of conducted tour.....so walk away the accumulated Fat on my 5 days extension. See Danshui Night Market photo here
