Stayed twice in two weeks, very clean, modern, and well appointed. One of the better options and the price is comparable to other hotels (i.e. Landis hotels) but with better quality. Very modern, roomy, with contemporary furnishings.
I found that there were two Fullerton hotels in Taipei - Fullerton 41 and 315. According to the website of the hotel, room rate of Fullerton 41 is slightly higher than Fullerton 315. I'd like somebody tell me what makes the difference. Location or facilities?

Dont know too much about these Hotels but it could be lacation as Fullerton 41 is just one MRT stop from a major shopping drag, Zhongxiao E. Rd. Sec 4.
I will be travleing to Taipei Chirstmas Day 2009 with my wife and 6-year-old to bring home our adopted son at Cathwel Orphanage. We are trrying ot find hotles which will be the most convenient to tourist shopping, parks, the zoo and still be somewhat close to the orphanage.
Any sugestions. We prefer to keep it to around $100 US Dollars per night, if possible.

If I've looked up the correct address for Cathwel Orphanage (this is what I found: No. 155, Sec. 2, BeiShen Road, Shenkeng, Taipei Hsien(222) Taiwan, R.O.C. )the orphanage is located south east of Taipei City. From the map I'm estimating it's a 20min car ride from the last stop of the brown line southbound of the MRT.
The MRT is Taipei's excellent subway system. If you stay at a hotel near any of the stops of the MRT you'll get all around town very conveniently and cheaply.
I also did a quick search for a hotel and found one called Taipei Fullerton South, just a few stops up from that last stop of the MRT closest to the orphanage. They are offering up to 40% online discount which then falls within your budget: http://www.taipeifullerton.com.tw/html/eng_south/suite.htm
You will also be only one stop away from the main shopping area in Taipei.
Incidentally the same last stop of the brown line is the zoo so you're sorted for that as well :)

if you guys want to stay in like homestay, you can have a look this one.
NT$600/per night and it takes 8 minutes by walk from MRT Jiangtan/Shilin Night Market to this guest house.
