Hotel in Taipei

by htlee

Can anyone recommend a hotel in Taipei that is in a convenient location e.g. 5 min walk to MRT station? We need the convenience as there are 2 kids in our family. Our budget is around NTD4500. A reasonable sized room will be preferred.

I stayed in TS hotel the last time I went.

I know google says that the site is dangerous but I just went on it and it's fine to go ahead, so dont worry. Its literally a 2 minutes walk from ximending station where everything is. So a very ideal location for abt 2000tw a night. Lovely hotel as well. Nothing fancy, but simple clean and comfortable

Hi

TS-Ta Shun is a nice small family run Hotel. They have this room where they put a mattress on the wooden floor and that would be fine for you -very comfortable.. My folks and Family always stay here. It is including breakfast(Simple but adequate)Ask for Conney) The rooms are exactly like in the website.
It is about 3 mons walk to Ximen MRT, Safe(Police station just down the road) Food, shopping e.t.c. all really close. Most reasonable transport to hotel and back.(Freego bus is NTD145 per head. don't know kids rate)

These are other Hotels you can consider. Rom rates are a lot cheaper than the list price, call directly to confirm.
Note:
These are all 3* hotels here but really value for money. Some don't have Bell boys or room service or pools but in Taipei-just step outside these places and you have food all around you.

Travel Tips for Taipei

Wish for love, go there for pray

by yatingchen

When one has wish for love, he goes to the famous Love-Temple for pray. It's said that the successful rate there is high.

For the first visit you have to pay for gift for God.
How to pray: in front of the God (an old guy called the old under the moon) you have to let him know, your name, birthday, age, address and wish. After the whole praying process, you will get one red-strip as charm, just put it in your wallet.

How to make God help you more:
1)go to pray as often as you can, then the God will know you more.
2) go to pray on the God's birthday, according to lunar calender on the August 15 (full-moon festival)

Wish you guys good luck for love :-)

Yeh Liu

by keeweechic

You will find Yeh Liu in the north of Taiwan. Formed by the spreading of Datun Mountain, it is a cape of about 1,700 metres long and is said to look like a giant turtle from the air.

Getting There: MRT: Services run between Taipei and Danshuei at 3 to 10 minute intervals. Tickets can be bought at all MRT stations.

By bus : At Taipei, Banciao, Danshuei or Keelung, take the Taichi Express Bus bound for Jinshan and alight at Yehliu stop.

The Biggest Night Market

by dennisKL about Shilin Night Market

This is really a very large market in Taipei. Get yourself for a few hours walk. If you are stop at the Jian Dan Station, opposite of this is a large hawker center which is fixed with air-cond that you can actually feel betther especially during hot summer. Check out for the mix fruit juices and local food. Keep to the left of the street you will find a large electronic and mobile discount stall. Check out for some good deal. If you notice, local people are more prefer to walk around with their pets rather than their partner:).

Must try: Ah Chung Mee Sua (rice noodle)

by MizBlack about Ah Chung Mee Sua

Other than the oyster mee sua which taiwan is famous for, do try out this ah chung mee sua. Ah chung mee sua is basically rice noodle with intestine. Located at ximending, this mee sua stall seems to be popular with the locals. One unique custom of this stall is that people who dine in stand around the stall. No tables and chairs are provided. Each bowl of mee sua cost about NT35.

Great dessert and food.
