Bus/taxi from airport

by far_kenell_73

Hello thanks to everyone on your previous help. I have ended up booking the Wan Tai hotel Taipei. I will be arriving at the airport around 10:30pm this friday night 22/9/06. Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can get from the airport to the hotel at that time of night mayb alot later. I was thinking of going on the free go bus service as i saw that it runs until 1:30am. How much would a taxi be. My next question is will the taxi driver/ bus driver no where the hotel is. Are there any big landmarks near the hotel that we could tell them, the address is Wan Tai Hotel Taipei (3 Star)
153, Songshan Road,
Taipei.
Tel: (8862) 2763 6660
Fax: (8862) 2763 6622

Do you think that we will have no problems finding a taxi or bus service once we are at the airport. Thanks in advanced for your help i have found this web site the best resources for my Taiwan travels.

Regards Mick

HI,
You can take the Air Bus East (NTD140/-) up to Taipei City Hall MRT(Last stop is the Grand Hyatt Hotel) and then a short cab ride to Wan Tai Hotel (Less than NTD100). It is at the entrance of WuFenPu in Songshan. (Cabbies in the City Hall area should know)
http://www.airbus.com.tw/airport_bus/image/airport_e.jpg
Airbus last bus leaves at 1.00am
http://www.airbus.com.tw/airport_bus/at1.html
From the Airport it will cost you NTD1200/- to cab it directly to the Hotel.

Thanks nuttyazn

by jtmarch

Hi Friends,

I'll be bringing my mum (age: 70) to Taipei this coming Apr '07. Taipei is one place that she has been looking forward to visit. We've no plan to join package tour coz it may be too hectic for her. Can anyone help us to plan our itinerary. Btw, is wan tai hotel a good choice?

Thank you

Visit the museum with all the treasures of the chinese emperor. The KMT took it all with them when they went to taiwan. The reason why the old forbidden palace is totally empty.
That's one thing i'd love to see....the palace with all it's treasures in full display tohether. Now u have to do it in two steps...

Wantai is on the doorstep of Wufenpu, close to Songshan Railway station and Raohe Street Market. It is a short bus ride to the Xinyi Shopping district and the 101 bldg.

Any particular reason for this choice? If it is budget then let me know as there are many good 3* HOTELS in town in the Ximenting area closer to shopping food and a more bustling atmosphere and close to the MRT.

The NP Museum is great. These Won't be sent to the PRC as the ROC is China. The commies dont appreciate anything anyway, they only do things for face. That is why even Mainland tourists are now visiting The ROC to view these Chinese National treasures.

Hi Nuttyazn,

I choose Wan Tai Hotel is for budget & its location. Wufenpu is a wholesale centre so I assume there may have clothings suitable for my "modern" mum who loves to shop & eat.

Perhaps, you can help to recommend a cheap hotel which is conveniently located -near MRT, eating places and etc..

Ok, shall visit the museum during our stay there.

Thank you

The Silken is a good hotel, maybe not for Mum though.
good prices and good value, close to Lin Shen
http://www.silken.com.tw/en/aboutus.htm
The website makes it look like a wonderfull location, it is not that good. Just a good basic room for a good price. You will need to take taxi for about 120NT or less to most places.
