Greenhome Homestay: A Retreat in the Mountains

This homestay (Min Su) is located in the Alishan Scenic Area, and is 1000 - 1300 m above sea level. It is very quiet and very far away from the convenience stores. The view and the food was fantastic. We stayed in a room with a double bed, and it comes with an attached bathroom and toilet, TV, dressing table and wardrobe.

The homestay also has an observation deck (to view sunrise and sunset), and a pavilion where we could make and drink tea. The water we drink here comes from the mountains, and has a sweet taste. The air is fresh and cool. Although this place offers no creature comforts, we would gladly stay here again (for the view and the fresh air).

Our package (includes meals, transport, accommodation and guided tour) costs NT4200 per person (3-day 2-night).

The guide and owners only speak Mandarin and the Taiwanese dialect.

Fresh air, good home-cooked food, great hospitality and the VIEW!

Shen Mu Hotel: Where to stay in A-Li-Shan?

The bed is big and soft. However there is no air-con (or it is there but we just can't find it??), so it is quite cold with the windows opened (about 10 degree Celcius).

The staff is very friendly, and explains to the tourists how to get around in the forest recreational area.

This hotel offers sunrise-watching trip to Yu-Shan, about NTD300.

Hotels and Home Stay: Place to Stay

There are plenty of hotels at AlishanForest Recreation Area. Many of them are located in the village around the train station, and some are inside the park. Alternatively, you can stay at home stays (family operated accomodation; it is popular form of accomodation for travelers in Taiwan) that is more economic than hotels.

More details about hotels

On the website, search for Hotels of Alishan

The first 12 hotels are, as i mentioned, close to each other.
The rest are in the other area, but the owners also pick up their guests in front of the train station.

The area with more hotels is closer to the train station, if you wanna take the small train to zhushan next morning, it will be a better choice....because you have to buy the ticket...and you really have to get up very early!

2 hotel zones

Well, basically, there're two mean hotel areas.Once you step out A-li -shan train station, a lot of hotel owners wait for all tourists over there.

Yes, if you've already booked a hotel, just speak out, they can drive you to the hotel. So you don't need to worry about about the traffic between the train station and your hotel.
But if you didn't, still, don't worry, those owners are very willing to give you a ride to show you their hotels. Guess what! In one of the hotel area, basically, all hotels are close to each other, there're about 10 choices over there. So why not take a free ride?

And about the quality, well, they are almost the same, so you can easily choose any one of them according to your budget.

If you decide to reach the hotel zone on foot, it's not far,it's about 10 (at most) min. walk.
