Emulating a Winning Strategy...

Some local marketing genius, trying to emulate the success of the 7-11 Empire came up with his own brain child: The 5-9 store.
Note the similar coloring patterns and the close proximity to their chief rival...
I'm sure somewhere, somehow others are dreaming of a 8-12 or 6-9 store that they can call their very own...
Cute Ching Dynasty Turtle Lurks in Chiayi Park
by eric_ives
If you make it out to Chiayi Park be sure to check out the old turtle.
Just go east from the train station on Chung-Shan Road until you reach the slope up. It's about a 30 minute walk. The park is on your left and the baseball stadium is on the right. The Turtle is near the entrance at the corner of Chi-Min and Chung-Shan roads.
The turtle has been there a long time, and the wind and rain have eroded the features, but on the tablet sticking out of his back you can still faintly see the Manchurian and Chinese texts.
Taiwan could boost its international tourism by putting signs with English translations at some of these historic sites.
Sunny Chiayi

Mind you, Chiayi is not your typical tourist stop. Although this is a gateway up into some of the mountain resorts, I will try to concentrate more on the downtown type stuff like dinosaurs, liberty bells, lady liberty, beekeepers, and the like....
We will start with the famous sitting guy. Not sure who he is, but it's an odds on favourite that it is either Chiang Kai-Shek or Sun, Yat-Sen... (I have to do something to entertain myself when in Chiayi on business...)
