LiTao is on the South cross-island highway. Go to Taitung from Tainan or Kaohsiung, you could choose this way, risky but worth seeing. In the small aboriginal village Litao, people set guest houses for visitors who like to go hiking. It's really a good choice for you.
The villagers count on agriculture, for instance, cabbage and strawberry. donot expect people will be nice to tourists coz I didn't feel anything about it. I guess they still have to work hard for filling belly. However, the owner of guest house is polite. No worry about it.
It's still suitble for drivers to come, as the traffic is a big problem for backpackers with only legs. the bus is offered and you could take it from Tiatung city. the bus goes twice a day.

Kending Narional Park (chinese: ¾Á¤B°ê®a¤½¶é)

Kending Narional Park has three parts. The first part has Jyadung gigantic tree, flower house, stalactite caves, silver-leaf & board-root tree, viewing tower; the second part has silver dragon cave, umbrella pavilion, dangling banyan cave, one-line sky; the third part is an unopened primitive rain forest area. The forest recreation area has many swelling coral reefs and the growing densely and thickly tropical plants, looking like the landscape in the South Sea Islands.

This a good location to start visiting the Island of Taiwan, its easy to get around and offers many places of interest to the visitor. Tea Plantations, Fruit Farms and lots of Rice Cultivation...
A short ferry ride to " Green Island " as well as several others...South of Taitung is the favourite holiday destination point for many Taiwan people.

Henchun Ancient Town (chinese: «ÌªF¿¤«í¬K¥j«°)

Henchun , called Liang Chiau in the past, means the end point of Taiwan in the Pai-Wan tribal language. Henchun ancient town located in the center of Henchun town was built in the Ching dynasty. At present, there are only four city gates left , belonging to the second class of ancient remains.
