Decent Hotel, Not Horrible, and Not Great

We booked for the most basic room but was upgraded to a bigger suite. The hotel is very old and not renovated, so much of the amenities are old. The bathroom is also very old and bathroom looks rusty. The TV in our room was not LCD, but every other room was, so it was kind of a disappointment. Overall the staff was nice to us, but I noticed a change in attitude when staff dealt with tourists from China.

The outdoor spa pool consists of 1 big cold pool and 1 small hot pool. I went during the winter, so didn't have the chance to dip in the cold pool. The pool opens at 5pm and closed during the day time because they change the water everyday.

The breakfast is delicious.
They will charge you 200NT for train station pick-up and drop-off. Honestly, it is very close-by, so it is probably cheaper to find a local taxi company.

The price isn't too expensive, so you pay for what you get.

Unique Quality: The hot spring pool temperature is hot and comfortable. Very quiet neighborhood.

Travel Tips for Taitung

Hung Yeh (Read Leaves) Villiage

by Burtty

Hung Yeh village is a beautiful and peaceful village in the mountains. This is a aboriginal tribe. They are famous for the hot spring and the baseball teams. Even without these, we thought it was wonderful for us just to walk in this village to enjoy the moment of the peaceful life.

Henchun Ancient Town (chinese: «í¬K¥j«°)

by sunnywong

Henchun , called Liang Chiau in the past, means the end point of Taiwan in the Pai-Wan tribal language. Henchun ancient town located in the center of Henchun town was built in the Ching dynasty. At present, there are only four city gates left , belonging to the second class of ancient remains.

Taitung~ One of the best city in Taiwan

by luckymiffy

"The travellers' Heaven in Taiwan"

Taitung is far from the big cities and it's quite big, the air is so fresh, so most people, as long as they have more than 3 days vacation, would choose Taitung or Hualian to have a break. The rape blossom is everywhere in Taitung during spring.

"Green Island"

A Pacific island to the southern-east of Taitung. The whole coastline is rounded by the coral reefs. Its area is 15.1 sq. km and it has a population of about 2,800.
Green Island is another small island that belongs to Taiwan. It's just 40 mins for taking a round by motorbike. It's much hotter, and very windy during October. peop go to Green Island by boat or small plane, I took a boat, but the wave is too strong to make everyone throw up when they have seats on the 2nd floor. The sailors closed the 2nd floor. In this picture John stands in front of a famous jail. decades of years ago, people were sent to this prison were disappeared mostly and their families hardly saw them again. Some political prisoners are sent here too, our president A-Bian and our vice president stayed in for years.

"The Dog and The Sleep Beauty"

Green island is a vulcanian island that creats a beautiful and diverse coast. The sea eats the rock away and forms a head, Sleep Beauty's head. The dog behind her takes care of her every day until they become rocks.

Kending National Park (chinese: ¾Á¤B°ê®a¤½¶é)

by sunnywong

Kenting National Park is one of Taiwan's six national parks. It was the first national park and was officially opened in 1984. The Park is located at the southern tip of Taiwan in the area called the Hengchuen Peninsula. The Park now contains about 20,000 hectares of land and approximately 16,000 hectares of ocean along the three coasts. The park is well known for its uplifted coral reefs, oceanic natural resources, natural monsoon forests, and coastal tropical rainforest.

"Cat's Nose (chinese: ¿ß»óÀY¤½¶é)"

Cat's Nose (Maobitou), which gets its name from the shape of its coral reef coastline. It looks like a cat crouching and ready to pounce on a mouse. Maobitou is the dividing point between the Taiwan Straits and the Bashi Channel. It and Eluanbi are the two most southerly points of Taiwan. Maopitou presents the typically eroded topography of a coral reef coast.

"South Bay (chinese: «nÆW)"

Nanwan, or South Bay, is also called Lanwan, or Blue Bay, so called for its deep blue waters. In addition to the well known beach, there is also a little fishing village on the bay.

"Kenting Ranch (chinese: ¾Á¤Bªª³õ)"

This area was originally a settlement of the early Chinese pioneers,
but because of its dry, windy climate it was unsuited to crop raising. Thus, it was turned into a ranch in 1904. Since 1958 it has been administered by the Taiwan Provincial Government's Hengchuen Livestock Experimental Station, which experiments with sheep and cattle breeding, livestock medicine, and the propagation of forage grasses.

"Sail Rock (chinese: ²î¦|¥Û)"

From a distance it resembles a sailing ship just under way and so gets its name -- Sail Rock. Up close it suggests to some a profile of former U.S. President Richard Nixon. The rock is about 18 meters high. It is actually a piece of older
coral that long ago rolled off the nearby tableland down to the sea. Because its stone is harder than that of the surrounding newer coral, it has stood this way upright in the sea for thousands of years.

"Eluanbi Park (chinese: ÃZÆq»ó¤½¶é)"

Eluanbi, famous for its lighthouse, was previously lacking in suitable tourist facilities. Because of this, visitors arriving at this spot could admire the bronze statue of Chiang Kai-Shek, appreciate the exterior of the lighthouse and take souvenir photographs, but there were no other tourist sites. Therefore, the Kenting National Park authorities constructed a new park from the natural coral reef opposite from the bronze statue, formally opened on December 25, 1982.

"Wind Blown Sand (chinese: ·§j¬â)"

Fengchueisha, or Windblown Sand, is about seven kilometers north of Eluanbi. The neighboring areas are all coral rock. Recently, however, the opening of the Chia-O Highwayand the planting of Casuarina by the Forestry Department have impeded the flow of sand, and the tracks are gradually becoming overgrown with creeping plants. The barren, Gobi-like effect of the past is no longer to be seen.
