TajikHotels.com: 100s of hotels and rooms in Tajikistan

Everyone thinks that hotels in Tajikistan either good and very expensive, or Soviet style and old, and still expensive. It is actually not completely true. There are hotels in Dushanbe and other towns that newly built and are more affordable.
I used website www.TajikHotels.com and booked Atlas Hotel in Dushanbe and Parinen hotel in Khorog. I would they both hotels were very nice and in city centers. Well, it is not perfect and it is silly to expect high quality service in Tajikistan but it was quite nice. I recommend Parinen in Khorog (although, it has only few rooms and you should be lucky to find available one)

i stated at Atlas Guesthouse in Dushanbe and Parinen Inn in Khorog and i was satisfied with the quality of service they have provided.
booking was easy with TajikHotels.com .. I just wrote them to their email and they booked themselves the hotel for my gf and me, and even booked seats in public transport from Dushanbe to Khorog.
The owner told us that they have list of more than 50 homestays all over Pamirs and they book them for guests whenever they request. homestays as I understood are protected and promoted by local non-governmental organizations called MSDSP, french ACTED and some others (don't remember) ..

Hotel Dushanbe: Old Soviet atmosphere

This is a '70-ies monster of a building with its eerie atmosphere of gone-by Soviet times. Only russian is spoken, every floor has its own old lady to check if you are behaving good and to clean the rooms. Not n excellent hotel but worth to sleep a night or two for the ambiance only.

Soviet ambiance, a lot of rooms. Good location in town.

Guesthouses and homestays

Tajikistan, and more so its eastern region, the Pamirs are one of the most hospitable countries on this planet.
All over in the Pamirs there are guesthouses, mostly run under the protection of MSDSP or META, which are local organisations supporting the development in the region. If I write "protection", then I mean that the hosts are protected through a price scheme, which is hanging in every guesthouse and which is very much transparent. Depending on your stay, you pay either only accommodation or in addition the meals you are given in the houses.
For 2007, prices are: 6, 8 or 10 USD/person/night in a homestay and 5 or 8 USD/person/night in a yurt. Breakfast: 1,50 USD/person; Lunch/Dinner: 2,25 USD/person.

MSDSP offices are in Khorog and in Murghab and they can help you finding a stay for the night.

It should be self-evident to leave a contribution for your stay. The actual fees for accommodation and food are given on META's website, which has been updated and shows the prices as of 2007.

In case, you are hiking and are offered shelter and meals by locals (be it in houses or in Kyrgyz yurts), it should be out of discussion that you also pay for this.

Private flats in Dushanbe: Flat renting in Dushanbe

In Dushanbe, you can find all types of hotels and guest houses. But for longer stays, it is quite easy and cheaper to rent a flat and it is much more confortable to have his private life. Prices are about 150 USD for a week and about 300 to 500 USD for a month. Depending on situation and quality of flat.

I went to various flats, most of them have a minimum good equipment, you can even find some of them with working sauna.
The only problem when you take a flat is that you have to arrange with your organisation or persons with whome you are working to make your Ovir registration. In hotels it is done automaticaly!
Always bargain the price....

All arrangements must be made well in advance. We went into the Fan mountains and went camping but everything including food and water had to be brought with us. This is a little girl in front of a mud oven in a mountain village. These ovens are typical of CA and can be seen everywhere. the bread they bake is great, but as we were warned early on hair is a spice in Central Asia.!
