Luxury Hotel at an affordable price in Ayutthaya
by Homanded about Krungsri River Hotel
Incredible hotel, just a couple blocks from the the train station.
Within Walking distance of shopping.
Huge rooms, originally was reserved for 2 people....we hooked up with a fellow VT'er and found room more than ample enough to request an extra bed (which staff did NOT charge us for) and still had plenty of room! Hotel gives an air of luxury. Waterviews in some rooms. Wonderful, friendly service.
You can even reach the hotel by riverboat if traveling in from Bangkok!
The pool is very nice.
Restaurant very affordable serving delicious breakfast and lunch buffets.

Ayutthaya and Lopburi in a day trip?
by mjmaniezzo
I think I would like to catch the first train out to Lopburi (for the monkeys) for an hour or so then head back to Ayutthaya for the remained of the day to see the palace and the temples. I wouldn't mind staying till dusk to see the temples at night. And then head back to Bangkok. I am not sure . . .maybe it would be worth staying the night? Or maybe one day is enough . . ? ? ? ?

Hi
Sorry for the late reply, hope it's not too late already !
Ayutthaya is absolutely worth a more extensive visit !
We've been there for 3 days :
day 1 : by train from Bkk - after getting to the hotel, just walking around town without really visiting
day 2 : hired a bicycle to visit the temples inside the city walls
day 3 : hired a tuk-tuk for the day to visit the temples outside the city walls + the elephant kraal pavilion - in the evening we took the overnight sleeper to Nong Khai
There are so many temples that a longer visit really is advisable.
We've stayed at the Krungsri River hotel, which is very close to the trainstation.
We've never been to Lopburi, but it seems to be nice with all the monkeys hanging around.
