Local Guides...

by Greggor58

Im wrapping up some time in SE Asia and Im thinking about spending a quick day by train up to Ayuthaya from Bangkok...sometime before next Wednesday..
I would assume I can pick up a local guide with transport of some type at the train station there...
Does anybody know that this might be true...or better yet...can anybody recommend a local guide there that might be reasonably priced?
Many thanks in advance all!!

Hi,
I have been to Ayutthaya last week. Train from Bangkok to Ayutthaya is from Hualampong Rail Station. You can choose 1st class to 3rd class train. I took 3rd class train. It costs 20 bath. Train will depart at 7am, 8.30am, 10.50am etc. The journey will take 2 hours.
From Ayutthaya station, you can choose by rental bike (40 Bath a day), motorcycle (150 bath a day) or rent tuktuk. Tuktuk drivers will greet you at the station. They will offer to take you around the ancient city. i heard it costs 200 bath per hour. But i m not really sure because that time i was cycling around the old city.

Travel Tips for Ayuthaya

Ayutthaya used to be a...

by norain

Ayutthaya used to be a flourishing and prosperous capital in the past. It was the capital for 417 years, and during this long period there arose a great deal of construction, among them were numerous palaces and temples. As more than 30 monarches ruled over Ayutthaya, innumerable events occurred, some of which were historically recorded, while others became exciting legends, still narrated nowadays. The ruined temples and palaces either naturally worn out by time or destroyed by wars, were no doubt the valuable ancient sites, a perfect reflection of golden and legendary glorious past.

Found my way to rest in the ruins..

by yen_2

I was too tired and even sweating...Some of the group members laughed at me during the last part of the tour as I was too tired to even stand up and took photo's,heheh..One told me, I better sit down lined up with the buddha's..she told me joking though;-) The photo is around the area of Wat Phra Si Sanphet ruins. It's best to sit for a while and be away of the group to freshen' up!

Look around.....

by Designerartgirl

Well, Ayutthaya certainly has its characteristics and its not just Siem Reap which can lay claim to trees taking over the temples... it appears that it happens in Ayuthaya as well........

Made an interesting picture though dont you agree...?

Q: What motivate you to visit Ayutthaya? "right again, what motivate you to visit Ayutthaya? Push factors from inside you or pull factors from the destination?"

A: "Can't think of any push factors. I suppose if you've been to Angkor prior to Ayuthaya, you might be slightly underwhelmed."
