24 INN HOTEL (Sukhumvit Road)
Hi there
It's been many years for me to BKK n there are lots of changes.
Need some assistance here -
1) anyone know of 24 INN HOTEL along Sukhumvit Road?
Safe? Convenient?
2) Estimate how much will cab fare be from this hotel to airport?
Will there be traffic jam?
Need to catch 9pm flight on weekday back.
Guess i need to leave by 5pm to the airport.
3) Also, I heard bout Death Railway.
Some kind of day trip i believe.
My time is pretty tight.
So need to know if is it worth it? Any idea?
Thanks in advance.
Regards/Christine
Re: 24 INN HOTEL (Sukhumvit Road)
The hotel is in a good location close to MRT and Skytrain so rather than use cabs for the airport you might find the new train service cheaper and quicker. If you use a cab allow 45 minutes and about 350 THB including expressway tolls.
By Death Railway I assume you are referring to the Bridge over the River Kwai which was built by prisoners of war during the second world war. The Japense were brutal in their treatment of the prisoners from the UK, Australia, Holland, USA etc so many died in the building of the railway to Burma. It is an historic site, but mainly of interest to people who had relatives involved in the construction as there is a large graveyard and memorial there. It is a full day trip.

John
Re: 24 INN HOTEL (Sukhumvit Road)
Most hotels I have been to have been safe, even the hostels or one star places. I don't see a problem. cab fare is about 350 bahts with tolls, if you are a single it is best to take the express train into the city and a cab afterwards to your hotel. If there is more than yourself, maybe a taxi is better. The death railway is far away and will take the whole day. With your short time in Thailand, I rather take in the beauty and culture inside the city than travel hours outside the city. there is so much to do in Bangkok. If you want to go outside, spend a day and a night in Hua Hin. Two hours away from the city makes a great getaway spot. there are buses that leave to Hua Hin daily for four dollars...A cheap guest house is 20 USD. The beach is within walking distance and the town itself is a jewel for easy living. They have a great night market also going thru the center of town and food is inexpensive.
