Transit hotel at Bangkok's OLD airport
BEWARE THAT THIS INFORMATION IS DATED AND THAT THE AIRPORT IS NOW IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION! THE HOTEL MIGHT STILL OPERATE AT THE OLD AIRPORT THAT NOW SERVICES DOMESTIC FLIGHTS AND A FEW CHARTERS. THEREFORE I AM NOT DELETING THIS INFO.
I have stayed here a number of times and it's ok if you have a discounted room. paying the full price is a bit over the top much.
Thai Airways travellers are entiteled to a 40% discount on rack rates. When you check in at the hotel show your current boarding card or flight ticket. Does not apply to advance reservations. In otehr words, iof the hotel is full, you are stuck or have to take a more expensive room.
Ministays up to thre hours is USD 39 net during daytime check-in. That deal is not a good one and it might be better to use the Louis Tavern's day room facilities inside the airport terminal.
Unique Quality: Direct footbridge access to the terminal.
Dedicated transit hotel, everybody seems to be in a hurry - either to go to sleep or to leave. Busy at the counters. Probably a good place to get good food; I have studied the menues, but been so jet lagged and tired that it hasn't been a real option.

Always here when waiting for overnight flight
I am very glad that I chose the Amari Airport Hotel as it is very convenient. I arrived late at night and my flight left early the following morning. Once I arrived in Bangkok all I had to do was walk across the footbridge to the hotel, check in and I was all set. I was strongly recommend the Amari Hotel to anyone who is arriving late and/or departing early the next morning. Happy Travels!!!!

Great value in the KSR area
This recently opened budget hotel on Thanon Rambuttri, a 3min walk from Kao San Rd. has deservedly become the most popular place to stay in the area. It is in a quiet location, built around a courtyard that contains several restaurants, a pond and elephant statues. The rooms are spacious, new and all of them have attached bathrooms, the more expensive ones have TV and air-con. And last but not least there's a pool on the roof.
Rates start at 290B for a single with fan, air-con rooms start at 400B.
Due to its great value it's often full, even in the low season, so expect higher prices in the near future.
The Royal Indian Restaurant in the courtyard serves very good, authentic Indian food and is a great place to dine or just have a drink (delicious mango lassi). Prices are reasonable for the quality with mains around 100B.

Great Idea
We stayed for an afternoon and evening prior to out flight home. The hotel was very easy to find via the walkway from the airport and we soon found our room.
The room was spacious and comfortable but unfortunately we managed to fuse the lights! A very nice engineer soon fixed it though.
The food in the restaurant was quite good and there was plenty of choice at a fairly reasonable price.
Unique Quality: A perfect place to stay if you have a long transit time between flights and don't want to sit about in the airport. Also would be good if arriving late at night with nowhere booked in the city.
They hire rooms for stays of afew hours no problem. A bit expensive as a budget travellers option though.
