Nice 5* hotel
We stayed in a non-smoking Deluxe Room at the 11th Floor for 4 nights. The room is spacious, equipped with a 42-inch flat-screen TV & DVD-player. The view outside is not fantastic, maybe because we're not not a high floor. Bathroom comes with a standard tub and a separate shower area.
The hotel is located directly opposite a new shopping mall "Platinum Fashion Mall" and is also near Pratunam Market. You can get good bargain for local fashion production at the shopping areas nearby. The hotel is not located near to any skytrain stations although taxis are really cheap, not costing more than 100Bht going to almost anywhere within Bangkok. Just make sure that the meter is turned on. But beware of traffic jams. The traffic seems to be in a constant jam.
Breakfast was inclusive of our room charges. The spread is quite standard. I like the freshly baked croissants served. Just disappointed that I can't find more authentic Thai dishes being served. Pad Thai for breakfast would be nice :)
Unique Quality: There is a small pool at the 8th storey but we did not visit it once during our 5 days there. There is also a spa, but the prices are just hotel prices. There is a day spa located in a building just next to the hotel with much more affordable pricing (2hr oil massage for 750Bht). There are actually more options around, so it's great to explore the area around the hotel.

Good place to stay in Bangkok
The place to stay is quite good. Hotel Staffs are coopearte. Facilities are good. The breakfast was included into the hotel room rent. The place is in the core area of the city.
I suggest to stay there if you have good budget.

Great Sleep
The Hotel was very nice. It had a great huge Lobby, the staff was awesome and very helpful. We even checked out at 9pm and they didn't mind, even though they were expecting us to check out in the morning. Not sure if there was a cost associated with it though.
The room was very clean and comfortable, as long as you love hard mattress like I do.
The breakfast buffet was really good, great american breakfast too.
Unique Quality: I heard the spa was very nice and the pool, so my co-workers say.
The lobby had free wireless internet for those on a budget and not a work trip. Otherwise it was USD20 for 24 hours, unlimited use.
Very close to the shopping, malls just 5-10 minute walk away. Lots of street vendors just around the corner of the hotel.
The Italian Restaurant was very good, but definitely look at the menu items before you sit down, there are not a lot of options.
If you do not mind sitting on the comfortable seats in the lobby lounge, you can order from all the restaurant menus, which is very convienent when everyone wants something different.

Great hotel
Our stay in the hotel is very pleasant. The rooms are clean, very big and the bathroom is clean as well. It was right beside the market where you can buy a lot of cheap fashionable clothes! It's a good place to stay.

5 Star Hotel
Amari Watergate is one fo the leading 5 star hotels in Bangkok. The location is really great..very close to pratunam wholesale market & Central World (WTC) .
They have a grandous lobby with live Thai Music being played at ngiht. Free wifi connection at the lobby to those clients who are computer geek!
We tried almost 4 of their restaurants and its really great. Food, service and ambience are very nice.
Spacious room, clean linens and beddings, big bed, nice lighting, and very inviting bathroom :-)
Very nice View of the city from our bedroom.

Very kind staff yet low quality hotel
I stayed at this hotel in January 2007, paying $199U.S./night, inclusive. The hotel is located near some upscale shopping stores, and is not far from the convenient Skytrain. Very pleasant and proper hotel staff and nice fresh flowers in the room, yet was surprised at how poor a few quality related things were. The hotel room floor was surprisingly dusty, with clumps in both the corners and behind the main door. Bathroom accessories were not replaced each day, but I suspect that is the case with many Thailand hotels given my experience. The telephone had a bad headset which crackled too much, so making a call was unbearable. Also, I bought dinner at the hotel’s restaurant and took it to my room to eat. Surprisingly I wasn’t allowed to take the restaurant’s silverware up to the room to eat the dinner, and was informed that it was due to “management’s concern over inventory”. So I was given cheap flimsy plastic utensils. One tip for anyone taking a taxi to the hotel from the airport: taxi’s overcharge as often as they can. The trip to the hotel from the airport should be only approximately 350 baht, plus 40 baht for the freeway’s toll. I was overcharged, paying 500 plus the 40. So it might be sensible to call ahead and ask the concierge for an idea of what you can expect to pay a taxi. Finally, make sure taxi’s use their meter; accept nothing else if they won’t use the meter, or you’ll get taken unfair advantage of. In conclusions, the hotel’s quality control seems poor overall, and so I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to others.

The great corporate deal
Thanks to Jimmy for his corporate priviledge that we were upgraded to the deluxe, late check out and excess to the club's level. A good class hotel of course with contemporary furnishing. My darling even love their side seats. Staff are friendly. Anyway these people provide better services compare to back at home.
International Buffet breakfast. Food are okay.
Nearby shopping, Pratunam market, The Pratunam Mall (plenty of ladies clothing) & PanIT (jimmy's fav. hahaha...basically computer stuff)
Unique Quality: View of the bustling Pratunam City. Cozy architecture for the pool.

For High Rollers and Cheap Thrills
If you plan to go budget shopping, this is the place to be! Just step outside and you see rows and rows of clothes shops in the Pratunam Market. Most of the stuff are designer rip offs and you might chance upon a really good deal.
Now if you plan to spend a huge amount of moolah, then Gaysorn and World centre is just nearby. And right in front of Watergate, they're constructing the Platinum Mall. watch out for it.. It's gonna be the hottest place to see or be seen.
Oh, and for Filipino celebrity hunters... this is a good place to hobnob with them. Actually bumped into Lucio Tan (yes, the billionaire) and saw that this is where actress Cherie Gil took refuge after the tsunami.
Unique Quality: Stayed in this hotel maybe more than 10 times for business travel... And if you are travelling on business, you'd be happy to note that WIFI internet is free in the lobby. But should you need your very own office/conference room, they rent the office for about 250 baht per half hour -- not a bad deal considering you get a phone, computer with all the peripherals and a decentplace to meet clients or associates. (and trust me, it's better to meet them in your own office than to have them in your room -- and see all your laundry!)

Amari Watergate
Is the Amari Watergate a good hotel? I'm concerned about location and nearness to the skytrain. What are other suggestions? Thanks so much.
Re: Amari Watergate
I have not stayed at the Watergate, but have stayed at the Amari Boulevarde on Shukumvit Soi 5 and that is very close to the Nana BTS lees tha a five minute walk.
Re: Amari Watergate
The Amari Watergate is an excellent 5 star hotel in an excellent location for shopping in the the heart of the Pratunam area.

Their website says it is about 10 mins walk to the near Skytrain. However, I recommend taking taxis in Bangkok because they are cheap and convenient.
Re: Amari Watergate
yes, the Amari wagetergate is located near Big shopping Center such as Central World. Pratunam platinum, pantip Plaza, Bai yok 1 & 2. Super store such as Big C also locate nearby. The skytrain is also not so far away. it should take 10-15 mins to reach there.
have a great time in Thailand.
