Solo in Thailand
by plunks
Hi guys/gals
I'll be arriving in Bangkok on the 25th Nov 2010. Just checking if any solo travellers would like to meet up. Will be in Bangkok for 4 nights then off to Pattaya and then relaxing by quiet beach in Jomtien. I leave on the 7th Dec so if your gonna be there drop me a line.

Travel Tips for Bangkok
Relax!
by bijo69
Bangkok is a great place to spoil yourself a little bit! There are many places which offer different kinds of massages and beauty treatments to affordable prices.
There's a good spa on Rambutri Road (parallel to Khao San Rd), had a Thai massage there every evening :). 1hr costs around 200 THB.

Save 500 baht for your departure
by tashka
Save 500 baht for your departure, that is if your are leaving by plane. This is the amount of the passenger service charge and value added tax subject to be paid by anyone leaving Thailand by plane.
Note: this is the amount I paid in 2003, I guess it can change with time.
Weather
by Pomska
Bangkok swelters in tropical heat all year round, altough the months from November to February are less humid and cooler at nights. Temperatures are at their highest from March to May. By June the monsoon sets in and heavy rainfall will bring some relief. Flooding occurs in August and September and it can cause traffic problems.

Buddhist monks walking about in the temple areas are hard to miss.
And, if i understood this right, you can choose to be a monk for any length of time during your lifetime. From devoting your entire life to being a monk for just one day...
Money
by keeweechic
Money can be exchanged at currency exchange services of banks and at authorised money changers. Rates vary slightly from bank to bank. The currency exchange services are often box offices in front of bank branches. Many hotels double as authorised money changers though their rates are usually not as good as those of banks or independent authorised money changers. A small number of independent authorized money changers offer better rates than banks.
