Buy yourself a good map
by riproy
There are no scaled maps available for Bangkok - military secret, you see. i found the best maps to be Nancy Chandler maps. Lots of information on the map giving you an idea of relative distances so that you can plan what you want to see in one day and what should be left for another day.
http://www.bangkok-world.com/maps/bangkok/index.shtml None of the maps contain much beyond the core area of the city - the airport will not be on any of them, for example, but if you are where most other tourists are, they will do fine. Getting outside of that area gets a bit more adventerous and, depending on your point of view, either less or more interesting.
Great views from the Golden Mount.

In the 'things to do' section, I've already written about this place, but here's another photo to show part of the great view you can get from this place.
To find out where this place is and how to get there, see the "to do" section.

Mondop of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara (the Goddess of Mercy Kuan-Yin)
There continues to be new works - this is a large statue of Kuan Ying, the Goddess of Mercy, carved from a single huge block of wood.
In Public

Displays of affection between the sexes in public are not common in Thailand, and would be frowned upon. Personal hygiene and cleanliness are very important. Thais generally bathe at least twice a day and tend to dress very politely.
Packing List

Bring as liitle as possible. Clothing is so cheap in Bangkok, that it is easier to buy it than bring it. By not checking any luggage, you can get to your vacation that much sooner without any worries about lost luggage. Adventure Travel
