Lovely Heritage Resort
by newyork40 about Sofitel Hua Hin
This was the first grand hotel in Hua Hin. It has been beautifully restored and is located on the beachfront. The Buffet Breakfast is one of the best I have ever had. Service is top notch throughout the resort. Olde world charm meets modern day luxury. Beautiful gardens, great spa facilities.

July 2009.
Stayed in a superior room. Spacious and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Beautiful grounds and pools. Ate lunch at the pool a couple of times. Pricy but tasty. Staff came around and offered cold, moist face towels, then later on, fruit skewers and then later on still, water mist bottles. Really pampered.
Buffet breakfast was very good. Good choice of Western and Asian food. Did not eat or drink at the hotel as there are plenty of cheaper alternatives outside the hotel.
Highly recommended hotel.
Magic in Hua Hin
by TripAdvisor Member aruboy
After three days in busy Bangkok we found this hotel to be just magic.
From the minute you turn into the hotels drive you know this is going to be special.
The staff were great and nothing was too much trouble.
My wife had received a promotion at work , I had arranged to have flowers presented to her on arrival, and on arrival she was presented with a spectacular arrangement of roses and orchids. It was attention to detail that made this hotel memorable.
The staff care.
We were there during the 60th anniversary of the Thai King , the hotel and staff made us part of their occasion and celebrations.
Rooms are a bit small but in Thailand why would I spend time in the room anyhow?
From the welcome drink to the wave goodbye we felt at home at the Sofitel Central Hua Hin Resort.
Not As Good At The Hilton
by TripAdvisor Member Bristles
This was our fourth visit to Hua Hin and all other stays have been at the Hilton. Being Sofitel members and having dined at the hotel on previous occassions we decided to stay 5 nights at this hotel. The room was clean and tidy though starting to show it's age. Balcony was spacious and overlooked on of the three pools. Unfortunately no view of the sea. Breakfast was well presented and offered variety. A lovelly china elephant vase was left gift wrapped in our room as a gift from the hotel. Several restaurants and we ate at the Railway Restaurant one night selecting the mini buffet which was a good choice. Have also had the Seafood buffet at this restaurant on previous visits but find that now we are getting older we just don't need that much food but it is very good value. Satchmo's Bar, which opens at 9pm was also very good with live music and attentive staff. Room service was excellent, no charge for ice which was delivered to our room with in minutes of making the request. Although we enjoyed our stay we would probably stay at the Hilton next time as the rooms are larger, bathrooms are very up to date and balcony and room offers excellent views of the sea we also believe that the breakfast is far superior at the Hilton. Hua Hin is a great place to visit and chill out and only a short drive or flight from Bangkok. A highly recommended holiday destination when travelling in Thailand.
an excellent holiday in hua hin

Me and my partner have just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel. First impressions were great- the long driveway and beautifully manicured gardens set the property back from the town, the beautiful open-air lobby, and the welcoming attentive staff ment our expectations for the rest of our stay were high. We were not dissapointed!
We stayed in a deluxe room which was situated in the garden wing. The room was spacious and bright and airy and tastefully decorated with separate dressing area and large bathroom with separate bath and shower. Our balcony overlooked one of the three pools.
Included with our stay was the buffet breakfast which was the best hotel buffet breakfast we have recieved anywhere; something for everyone!
The pool areas were lovely with each having a different atmosphere so try till you find the one that suits you. Unfortunatly the hotel becomes very busy at weekends (long weekends) mostly with families with young children and during this time all pools were equally noisy. As mentioned in a previous review an adult only pool would be a much appreciated addition.
The spa was great, with a variety of treatments available, a relaxing atmosphere and attentive staff. Unfortunatly it was quite expensive but still very busy so important to book in advance. We did not eat in any of the hotel restaurants in the evening purely because they were so expensive, even in comparison to other similar class hotels in the area (e.g. hilton).
The service in all areas of the hotel was excellent. As with everyone we met in hua hin the staff were friendly, helpful, polite and attentive.
This is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in and would recommend it to anyone visiting hua hin.
Fantastic Sofitel!
by TripAdvisor Member Ilkka
Back home from Thailand... Had a truly fantastic five-night stay at Sofitel in Hua Hin. Paid €90:- / night for a Superior room including breakfast through a third party website, an excellent deal! Superior room is the standard room at the hotel, and it really is very nice and comfortable. Big room with a nice balcony, turndown service each night and fantastic breakfasts in two different restaurants. Beds are quite hard though.
It is a classic hotel with truly excellent service. Sometimes though the service at the lobby bar (Elephant Bar) was a bit slow, but everywhere else the service was great! The Japanese restaurant Hagi is highly recommended, had a great Tappanyaki meal with Kobe beef that really melted in my mouth. Delicious! Museum Tea Corner had great afternoon teas in a traditional setting and seafood at Palm Pavilion was delicious. Prices at Sofitel are higher than in other places in Hua Hin but well worth it!
Spa was also fantastic, had a tranquility massage that I truly enjoyed. Luckily we had booked the massages for the same afternoon when there was a strong tropical skyfall, so we didn't mind the rain. Otherwise there were just a few quick rainshowers during our stay.
We visited also Hilton a few times during our stay in Hua Hin, it seems to be an excellent hotel but I definetly prefer Sofitel as Hilton feels a bit like a generic luxury hotel without a real character. Happy Hour (2 for 1) from 6 to 8 pm at Hiltons bar was very nice though, we got a total of 4 cocktails for about €10!!!
Hope to be back at Sofitel very soon, and my parents have already booked a stay there in January after we recommended the hotel.

We had an excellent stay in this restful, sedate hotel. Spotless throughout, manicured grounds and lovely staff. Excellent breakfast choices, and although pricier by Thai standards, very reasonable for Brits. Have feeling it will not be long before package tours descend in droves - beat them to it.
Heavenly stay!

This is probably one of the best places to stay when in Hua Hin. It is centrally located near shopping, good massage places and excellent restaurants if you don't want to pay hotel prices. It is non high-rise and has extensive grounds and 3 swimming pools that we found and has direct beach access. Even though one part was under renovation we were unaware of any buidling disturbance. Even though it was at capacity for guests when we stayed, it was not crowded at all. Rooms and bathroom amenities were excellent and room was almost sound-proof when doors closed! The staff were quietly helpful in a typically Thai way and the restaurant food was delicious, especially the buffet breakfast. Can highly recommend this resort and would stay there again.
Excellent Hotel

Stayed here for 10 days and had brilliant holiday. Had upgrade to delux garden room - two storey with living room and upstairs bedroom and bathroom on each floor. It was our wedding anniversary and heartshape flower display on bed plus other flowers decorated room plus cake, fruit etc - nice thought and much appreciated. Had to chose between Hilton and Sofitel and SO GLAD chose Sofitel. Hilton multi storey building in centre with poor beach and grounds. Walked on beach at front of Hilton and had to avoid galloping horses etc whereas beach much better outside Sofitel. Had 3 meals at Hotel but plenty of nearby Restaurants and can recommend La Paillote Thai and French Restaurant about 100 metres to left of main exit on Naresdamn Road. The grounds are so attractive and there is plenty of room to find a quite corner - no need to get out early to reserve sun bed here. Wonderful wonderful holiday. There is very modern shopping centre 80 baht tuk tuk ride away but all shops, night market within walking distance. All the locals were SO FRIENDLY and as previous correspondents have said I cannot see anyone not enjoying a stay at this lovely Hotel. There has been mention of jellyfish - there are plenty washed up along the vast beach but dont let this put you off
A real treasure

We stayed at the Sofitel for three nights relaxation at the end of a rather hectic trip through Vietnam and Cambodia.
This hotel has immediately staked its claim in my personal top five hotels list. It's a charming hotel, and as has been reported elsewhere, perfectly located close to the centre of town, while maintaining itself as a peaceful oasis.
The rooms are large and well appointed, the staff courteous and attentive, and the breakfasts (we dined elsewhere - check for reviews) were world class.
We love Hua Hin as a resort, finding it a more genteel slice of Thailand than elsewhere. Next time we go back, it will be to the Sofitel.

Bangkok Hotel

Hi,
can anybody recommend a reasonable priced hotel/THB 500,- in Bangkok not so far from sky train where one even can leave luggage for a day or two and return again. Quite area would be ok as well...
Many thanks!
Re: Bangkok Hotel

Do you mean leave the bag in the room you have booked or will they store it for you? Some hotels will hold a bag for you if they know you will book a room with them the first day and book again with them when you return.
There is a left luggage room at the airport where you can leave your bag - you do pay per day for this service. Bus from Oh Nut Skytrain to the airport is only 35 baht.

There is a left luggage place at the Hualamphong train station. Pick up the subway at Asoke and get off at the train station. Subway prices are cheap.

Some hotels in the low price range do not have any websites. I know that the Sukhumvit Crown Hotel would store bags for their customers. They had a big safe room behind the front desk. But their rooms are not cheap any more, even the fan only room is over 500 baht. You can see the Crown from the Nana Skytrain. Brick building between Soi 6 and Soi 8.

Good luck.
