    Budget hotel

If you're on a tight budget you might consider this hotel. Although the hotel is a bit dated and need of a renovation the rooms are clean and quiet. It is reasonably handy (by taxi) to the Pratunam markets, Platinum Malls etc. It has a swimming pool and internet services. Just don't expect luxury here.

A nice place to stay in Bangkok.

I was very satisfied with my stay at the Classic Place Hotel in Bangkok. The room I had was airy and refreshingly light. The decor was very plain and the room had clearly been recently refurbished. The restaurant served an impressive buffet breakfast that was included in the room rate. The hotel's location was very handy to transport connections. I would happily stay there again. For the price, it is a good quality option.

Unique Quality: The hotel has all the usual add-ons. There's a smallish swimming pool, but it's perfectly adequate to flop into after a hot day working or sightseeing in steamy old Bangkok. The rooms are particularly pleasant for a hotel in this grade.

Directions: The hotel is just a couple of hundred metres from the Petchaburi MRT (underground/subway) station.

Though the reviews were mixed taht I read on this Hotel, I found it great for my stay & met many other Kiwi's who also found it comfortable. The food choice was great, every morning a slight change to the menu, perfect to start the days off before heading out for tours etc. Room was perfect for one, coiuld do with a few more sachets of milk substitute & coffee, as at times it would have been nice to enjoy a couple of cuppa's!! :-) Will take my own next time as it'll pack nicely in the case. They do provide two bottles of water (free) daily, tho in glass that is not to be removed from the room, otherwise you pay 20Baht & it pays to transfer to your own plastic bottles. Water pressure in the shower was great too! :-) The air con was a little noisey & I tended to turn it off & on as needed, but its perfect for just crashing in at the end of the day & the staf were friendly & helpful. It has a pool, lovely coffee shop & easy for transport out get & out of with it being on a main road & very busy during peak hour traffic. Found it quiet & slept well.

Flying to BKK and getting to/from the airport.

Bangkok's airport isn't the most interesting airport to have to wait around in. I like airports, but they have to have places to watch the planes to appeal when you're stuck in them for a while.
Bangkok can be reached by air from just about anywhere in the world. Thai International is the national carrier serving most points in Europe, America, and Asia.
To get from the airport I took an "airport taxi". It cost 700B to the Petchaburi area. I thought that was pretty steep. When I left Bangkok in 2005, I took a normal meter taxi from Classic Place Hotel (in Petchaburi) to the airport and it only cost 141B!! Next time I arrive in BKK I'll just take a metered taxi. That's much better value. Unfortunately the subway and BTS do not go to the airport.

My family of 6 will be visiting Bangkok next month from July 6 - 9th. Which hotel is better. The First hotel or Classic Place hotel? We will be shopping and visiting most toursist attractions. Thanks.

Hi Have not heard of these hotels, but make certain any hotel you stay in is less than 5 minutes walk to the Skytrain. We recently stayed at the Asia , good tourist class hotel, very well positioned. You are welcome to view my Bangkok page where I have a review plus photos of this hotel and other activities.
Good Luck, Mikebb

1) Classic Palace

Location: Near Nana BTS
Price: Single - USD27, Twin - USD30

2) First Hotel

Location: Pratumwan Market (500m)
Price: Single - USD22, Twin - USD25

**Both average. Which I guess is reasonable. :)

Actually since you are a family of 6 pax. Location shouldn't be that much of an issue as taking a cab might be cheaper than taking the BTS. (i.e. if u stay at asia hotel/samran place, a cab to MBK or back to hotel cost about 50 baht or so. While taking the BTS for 6 pax cost abt 60-90 baht)

Maybe u can state your budget for hotel and what u like to check out. Others might be able to suggest better hotels?

A previous helper mentioned Asia Bangkok Hotel. What happened to my wife and I may not repeat to anyone else, but why take the chance? Our room got broken in, luggages opened up, valuables (safety box full) were stolen and the worst part of it all was that the hotel management did not know what room privacy or guest security meant. Please, anywhere else but there.
