Functional but adequate.
Whilst this place will never win any awards for design or chicness, it is spotlessly clean, well located just off the busy Sukumvit Road and close to Nana Skytrain station. The staff are very friendly and efficient as is typical of Thailand. The room and bed were generously sized and comfortable. If you are on a budget one step up from the hostel scene around Th. Khao San, this is a decent choice.
Unique Quality: No unique qualities at all, merely a functional and pleasant place in Central BKK.

Economical and near Bumrungrad Hospital
When I visit Bangkok,
one of my main reasons to
come here, is to do my yearly
medical check up at
Bumrungrad Hospital.
When trying to book a hotel
near the hospital via the internet,
distances can be deceiving.
I prefer to be at a hotel that
is walking distance from the hospital,
especially since the traffic in Bangkok
can be horrible!
So, I decided to give the Federal Hotel a try.
There are different prices since,
there are rooms that overlook the pool,
and others that have been refurbished.
As you walk through the
corridors of the hotel,
it has that old Miami Beach
Motel feel to it despite
the freshly coat of paint.
The newer rooms are very basic, but clean.
They come equipped with air-con,
a TV with some basic international cable channels,
a mini-bar fridge, a firm bed with clean sheets,
and bathrooms are clean with strong water pressure.
The great thing about this hotel is the location.
Located walking distance from the Nana station,
literally meters from Bed Supperclub,
Q Bar and up the road from
the Ambassador & Presidential Hotel,
and there’s a taxi and motorbike stand
just meters outside the main door,
making this hotel worth checking out.
Prices at the time of my visit
ran between 1,200-1,500 Bahts.

Direct in the city, but quiet and clean
I stood there more than 10 times and never I was disappointed.
