Thailand

Hi, I have been there with another girl in Nov,2009. It is a big and nice city. Suggestions for safe are not to take Thuk Thuk ( a vehicle for transfer), and do not believe strangers.( When you are for direction, they often tell you it is closed and will suggest to you to another place, then you will miss the right place and have to buy something you do not need).
We remember in heart the above, so we have a pleasant trip in Bangkok.
I will suggest one hotel later, because I could not remember the actual name now.
You must visit Wat Po and you...

You must visit Wat Po and you will be surprised. We met a Thai; he had a travel agency in Bangkok. He was very kindly and invited us to come to his home and to meet his family. His name is Pisanu. He informed us very well about thai life.

Sorry, wish I were there to take a look for you!! I am sure however that Raja's is still there. He has been in business for 30+ years and reputable. Short of something drastic happening in his family I doubt that he has quit the business, either way his son Bobby or brother Jesse wouldv'e taken over.
Good luck, I bet another VT member that is there in BKK will confirm for you soon.
No Photographs please!

I am not sure but I think it is not a good idea to take a photograph of a buddhist monk. Well, generally, noone should photograph anyone without permission. I did try to ask some monks to have my pic taken with them but in all instances was politely turned down by them.
The Monarchy

Thais from all walks of life still have deep respect and a genuine affection for their royal family. You will find pictures of the King adorning not just every public building but even holding pride of place in most private homes. All television channels devote at least half-an-hour every evening to a round-up of the royal family’s activities for the day and you will have to stand to pay your respects to His Majesty before every film or public performance of any kind.
The King’s words and political vision still carry great weight in today’s Thailand.
Speaking disrespectfully or jokingly about any member of the royal family in Thai hearing will very rapidly make enemies and will make you go to jail since Thailand still has leste majeste laws! (leste majeste law means is is a crime to defame the king) thailand may be a democracy but criticising the king is sill taboo and is punished by 12 years in prison!
