Boutique Serviced Apartment Hotel
The Unico is a serviced apartment hotel. The large rooms are modern and include a kitchenette. When you enter the room, the kitchen with refrigerator, range, sink, microwave, toaster, pots and pans, plates, glasses, and flatware is on one side and the bathroom on the other side before you enter the main room.
There's a large television with a dvd player facing the bed, a built-in desk, and a sofa and coffee table in sitting area. Other amenities include robes, safe, hair-dryer, and in-room internet. See the website for pretty accurate photos of the rooms.
Our room rate included breakfast, a mix of western and Asian dishes--it was quite good. There are newspapers and a large tv playing CNN or the BBC in the restaurant. The restaurant also serves lunch and dinner. There is also room service if you so desire.
The friendly staff is professional and English-speaking. The hotel also has a small pool and fitness room. There is a yoga studio adjacent to the pool, but not sure if it's part of the hotel. Free internet stations in the lobby.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Unico. The only minor negatives: an electric oil lamp with mint oil was over-whelming, so we unplugged it and put it on the balcony, and our bathroom had a mildewy odor, but oddly, not all the time.
The area around the hotel seems safe. There's usually a taxi sitting in the parking lot, or it takes about five minutes to walk out to Sathorn or Silom Roads. The closest BTS station is the Chong Nonsi. Modern, well-maintained, rooms with kitchenettes--great for longer stays, or if just want to whip up a light meal in your room.
