i could not find a hotel at first. many hotels were full during my visit (24th Nov - 1st Dec, 2003). my brother helped me book this. my father and i, two person sleeping in a triple room! no choice! the hotel is full by then! the room (819) is clean, and neat. strong shower! i love it! i turned off the a/c when i went out but the house keeping turned it on! the hotel is not worried about wasting electricity LOL but they provide a card allowing their clients to state that no need for changing the bedsheet bed cover, so as to help energy. i stayed so long, so reception staff could recongnise me. staff are polite but not very active. u can book a taxi for whole day through the hotel - 1800 baht for 4 person in a car, 2000 baht for 6 person in a van. there are various local tours for u to join too. Mambo carabet costs 800 baht if u buy the ticket on your own, not cheaper than hotel price. hotel can buy the tickets for u and then pick u up at the specfic time, also in 800 bahts. nice and helpful woman in the locla tour c counter inside the hotel. airport to hotel costs 300 baht (not incl. toll way fee) meter not used. many massage stores, hair salons nearby. sky train not that close but still in acceptable distance. breakfast is ok, better than those provided by Tower Inn :P omellete available

 | Grand Mercure Park Avenue: Hippest Find in Sukhumvit!

There's something about Sukhumvit that I really love - the narrow "soi" are always bubbling with activities and excitment. The "sois" of Sukhumvit are filled with surprise finds such as good restaurants, massage joints, spas and shops! This is one place I would always want to have my base whenever I visit Bangkok. The Grand Mercure Park Avenue Hotel is the latest discovery I made for my third trip. Located at the heart of Sukhumvit, it is about 15 minutes walk from Phrom Phong BTS. Surprisingly, I didn't find the walk long as there's lots of things to see along the soi where the hotel is located. The former Jade Pavilion Hotel has undergone a renovation and I dare to say that it is one of the best hotels I have stayed so far. I simply love the cosy and sleek decor. Service was great - we arrived way ahead of the check-in time at 2pm and yet, we were allowed to check in. Though the room is a little small, it is compensated by the latest-state of furnishing. And the decor is really unique - not something you find in other hotels. Moveover, cable channels are easily available throughout the day free-of-charge! And best still, I love the bathroom - it has a see-through wall to the bedroom. Oh yes, remember to tell the reception that you prefer a bathtub with shower for your room. Otherwise, you will get just the shower area without the bathtub!
Besides the modern and sleek decor, I love its inhouse restaurant - Vivo Vina. The italian restaurant is housed in a glass "greenhouse" and when night fall, it's simply look romantic from the outside. I've the breakfast and also dinner - great taste! I love the restaurant! Another talking point is the pool - the pool though small is beautiful and cosy - I had my morning swims in this pool. It's refreshing! | Grand Mercure Park Avenue: Bangkok's Best Location

If you are an owl like me and enjoy going out drinking and dancing at night in Bangkok, this Accord Hotel would be perfect for you. For a pre-paid rate of US$70 incl. per night booking through the hotel's official web site, we enjoyed the convenience of being in the centre of the nightlife/good restaurants/massages in Bangkok! What's more annoying than trying to be in a bar before it closes at 2am but being stuck in the traffic? It's 5 mins. by taxi (not much traffic) to Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy (ahem not that I enjoy going out there but so may), Q Bar/Bed Supperclub and Koi. About facilities, the hotel has a reasonably priced Italian restaurant, a gym room and a small pool. The lobby lounge is a relaxing place for a drink or two. The service was good. We had no problem checking out at 3pm. One thing I didn't like was the bed and the pillows. I've found the bed too soft and the pillow was too hard and thick but they have given us thinner and softer pillows when requested. If you prefer a bigger hotel, The Imperial Queen's Park could be a good choice, it's just opposite Grand Mercure. Otherwise, The Davis on Soi 24 is definitely worth considering.
Its location. Bang on in Soi 22. Walking distance to Je Ngor, Koi Restaurant on Soi 20 (please refer to my Nightlife/Restaurant recommendations) and Emporium the department store.
