Right in the middle of the classy shopping distric
This hotel was a great surprise because their rooms looked really great. It is close to a train station making traveling within the city very convenient. It has access to an elevated walkway making walking a pleasant experience
Unique Quality: It is right in the middle of the classy shopping district of Bangkok where all the big department stores are.

Best location & service
After much searching & sorting out most Bangkok's central hotels, finally settled down with Holiday Inn Bangkok. I was looking for a hotel with the nearest BTS station for my mum's convenience & better quality hotel for my husband. When I reached the hotel, I found that I made a right choice!
The BTS (Chitlom station) is right next to the hotel, it's almost 3 mins walk. The ambience of the hotel is modern & cosy. Staffs are very friendly and smiling. Service was good. We booked 2 connecting superior rooms. There is always a staff by the lift who greets you, very helpful staffs who answer to all your queries, opening the big glass main entrance door with greetings.
Lobby Manager, Mr Manop was very helpful & explained how to reach few attractions. With his assistance to help us get a wagon to airport due to our big luggages, which normal taxis are unable to load. Included highway charges for 5 of us, we only pay 500 Baht!!
Our rooms are big, with a super king size bed. Everything is within reach in the room, hair dryer, iron board, broadband connections..etc. The only thing I found inconvenient is the wooden blinds that are hanged outside of the bath room glass window. It is uncontrollable by the user inside the bath room. Suggest they should shift it inside, more privacy for tourists who were not couples!!
Holiday Inn is right opposide of Intercontinental, 5 mins walk to famous Four Face Buddha, Central World Plaza, Big C, etc. 15 mins walk to Pratunam wholesale shopping. I would go back to this hotel again!!
Unique Quality: Though it don't have a olympic size pool, it is still very tranquil sitting by the pool in the night. Every corner of this hotel is nicely decorated, there's always an essential oil burner outside every lift. The lemon grass aroma make ones feel calm and relax.
There's a connection from Holiday Inn to Intercontinental too.
The bad thing about this hotel is you cant get a good or fantastic view. Most of the rooms are blocked by Intercon's multi-storey carpark. Only best view is the north tower's pool view.
There's also no coverage or shelter from the hotel to BTS station, (only about 5m), inconvenient if rains.
I booked through asiarooms, and paid approx $187 per room per night, in Singapore currency.

Excellent hotel
An excellent and inexpensive hotel to stay at, great location, the executive rooms are clean and spacious.
Situated next to Chit Lom BTS Skytrain.
Easy Skybridge access to neighbouring shopping malls - Centrepoint and Siam Paragon.
2 stops away from MBK Shopping Centre.
Has its own thai dining restaurant, breakfast restaurant, bar and business centre (shared with the Intercontinental hotel)

Great Hotel in Great Location!
The Holiday Inn was the hotel I chose as my first choice -- the Pathumwan Princess -- was not available.
However, I am more than pleased with this substitute and look forward to future stays with this hotel.
It's centrally located with the convenience of the BTS train station just outside of the Hotel. It's great as it's so easy to navigate and explore Bangkok with the BTS.
THis is one place that Felicia Lim would definitely recommend! :)

city centre accomodation
The hotel is centrally located with Chitlom skystation at doorstep.Erawan Shrine is just round the corner.Room is spacious and clean with a large bathroom though only shower available. For the location and nice room the price is reasonable.I would definely stay here during my future visits.I would rate this a better hotel than it's sister hotel by the same namesake at Silom
Warning :Give the cab the correct address otherwise they will bring u to another Holiday Inn ,Silom
Unique Quality: They have a pillow menu so that u can have your choice of customised pillows.Toiletries like soaps n shampoos are comparable to 5 star Sheraton.

Fantastic Location
I will definitely stay here again if I want to stay near Siam Square. Perfect
location and Very convenient for everything. It is just a minute walk to BTS
Chitlom platform. The atmosphere around here was safe late at night and not too
busy nor too quiet. Only a few minutes from Big C, a big supermarket, open daily
9.00 am.-11.00 pm. Connected with a next building of the Intercontinental hotel
with some accessways. It is united as if they were a same building. The
Intercontinental is also connected with Gaysorn mall, and from Gaysorn to the
road for Central World Plaza and Isetan Department, you can cross a pedestrian
bridge with roof, so it is very easy to get there. Within 10 minutes walk to Siam
Square by pedestrian walkway out of the rain, suntan nor signals. (It was faster
than waiting and taking a Skay train, as it was just a next sta.) Interiors in
contemporary style were all clean and new, as the hotel was just renewed this
April 2005. I stayed at a superior room at US$ 73 without tax, where was large
and neatly furnished. The bathroom had with no bath tab, only with shower with glass door, and had a window for the room. Every staff was polite. If you are confused with accomodation near Siam Square, this hotel undoubtedly has value. I think the atmosphere in Chit Lom is much calm than that in Siam Square where was all over the shops and young people.
Unique Quality: Through the window at the room of 15th floor, the highest, I looked down a pool of next building(apartment?), not a bad view. The hotel pool was outside in a courtyard. I didn't have
breakfast here, cost about 500 BH, but the cafe G for breakfast looked bright
when I looked inside from the glass storefront along the busy Ploenchit Rd. One
regret was there were not many cafes around open early in the morning to have
breakfast. The nearest cafe I found before ten o'clock was only a Starbucks at Central Chitlom department, a few minutes walk, though.

Swanky New Holiday Inn by Chitlom
When seeing the lobby and rooms of this hotel, it's hard to imagine that this is a Holiday Inn property. This is a beautiful, swanky, cool hotel. The lobby is full of glass, modern and clean lines and comfy sofas. The bar and restaurants are beautiful. We stayed in a standard room on the 6th floor. A non smoking floor. The rooms are on the small side, but wonderful. The bathroom is very stylish. The shower is lovely, with two shower heads. One rain shower head and a normal hand held. The bed is very comfortable. Overall, very impressed with this hotel. We were able to get a discount rate at www.hoteltravel.com, otherwise it can be very pricey. If you don't get breakfast included in the rate, it is $14USD. You can get breakfast in your room for $11USD. We just found stuff around the hotel to eat. There are many malls in the area and sadly lots of Starbucks. It's easy to grab something cheap to eat in the area.
The hotel is right against the Intercontinental hotel. Both hotels are right next to the BTS skytrain Chitlom station. The location is excellent. You are right next to Gaysorn and Central department stores. Siam BTS station is one stop away.
The other Holiday Inn property is in Silom.
Holiday Inn Bangkok is highly recommended, especially if you are on business.

Convenient City Centre Location
Locate right opposite to the World Trade Centre and Beer Garden, this newly renovated hotel is very convenient. The room was comfortable but not big (actually, considered small in Thailand standard), and no bath tub in the room, only shower. The complementary fruit basket was good. I finished one whole big dragon fruit, very sweet and juicy! yum!!

Airport transfer
I will be arriving with my wife and daughter in Bangkok on 19.9.2008 at about 5 p.m.. Can anyone advise me on the best mode of transfer from the airport to Holiday Inn Bangkok, Ploenchit and the approximate travel time and fare. As this is my first visit any suggestion on places to visit, local fair and reasonable price one or half-day tour. Will be in Bangkok until 22.9.2008.
And it is safe to walk around Ploenchit area at night as I was thinking of visiting the Erawan Shrine and also nearby shopping complexes on the night of my arrival.
Re: Airport transfer
The best way is by taxi, there is no rail ink to the new airport yet. The cost will be about 350-400THB inlcuding Expressway tolls and the journey will take about 30 minutes (maybe longer if traffic is heavy). The area is like the rest of Thailand, safe to walk around at any time of day.
Regards
John
