    Not the best deal

    by

I stayed in this hotel last may for two nights. The room was nice with a huge shower room and a good working desk with several plugs even a usb one.I did not try the breakfast but giving a look at the buffet it didn't look like anything to die for.
What disappointed me most with this hotel was the staff attitude, I hardly got a goodbye or a hello going out and coming back. I paid the room 60 euro and I was told there would have been an extra charge in case I had a guest in my room.
After 2 pm they do not clean your room anymore, again normal in europe may be but very strange for a 4 stars in asia.

Unique Quality: The location is good because though it's in sukumvith area, it is quiet.

Location for Children fashion wholesale

by qiqi87

I'm looking for children's wear wholesaler in Bangkok.

Children wear ranging from newborn to 12 years old.

Is there anywhere which I could go to for goods at low price at reasonable quality?

Has went to Platinum previously and did not see much choice for children wear.

Thanks!

Qi

My wife goes to a market that sells brand name kids clothes that are made in Cambodia for $1 up. Great quality. You could probably coax the address out of me with a bottle of wine.

Just noticed you have a 2 yo. I have a 1 and 4 yo, so the market my missus goes to will be ideal. Not sure if it is open every day of the week, but I will find out the details.

Right. My missus says this little market is behind shophouses next to Kasikorn Bank on Asoke (Sukhumvit soi 21). You go into the small soi after Lumpini Grandview Tower and there is a parking lot behind. This is not locally made crap, this is export quality, brand name kids clothes that somehow make their way from Cambodia. My girls have been wearing these for years and they are better quality than anything I can find in Australia.

Travel Tips for Bangkok

culture and colors

by hana_aya

The best time for visiting most of Thailand is between October and February - during these months it is not too hot. The south is best visited
when the rest of Thailand is uncomfortably hot (April to June), and the north is best from mid-September
to early March or when it starts warming up again in April. If you're spending time in Bangkok,
be prepared to be roasted in April and get soaked in anytime during October - January.
The peak tourist months are December and August, and the least crowded months
are May, June and September-it's rainny season and a lot of flood in some year.

Thai Visas

by Unknownsu

Pretty much everyone needs a visa to enter the Thai kingdom. Luckily however, citizens from most countries can receive a 30 day visa upon arrival at the Don Muang airport free of charge. If in doubt, check with the nearest Thai embassy located to you.

The official Thai name of Bangkok is in the Guiness Book of Records as the longest place name in the world. If you want to impress your friends, try memorizing this:
Krungthep Mahanakorn Boworn Rattanakosin Mahintharayuttha Mahadilokpop Noparatratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniveymahasathan Amornpiman Avatransathit Sakkathattiay-avisnukarmprasit.

What it means: "Great city of angels; the repository of divine gems; the great land unconquerable; the grand and prominent realm; the royal and delightful capital full of nine noble gems; the highest royal dwelling and grand palace; the divine shelter and living place of reincarnated spirits."

The city is just better known as Krung Thep or City of Angels.

Samut Prakan = Erawan Elephant Museum

by Audrey118

If you have time visit the new Erawan Elephant Museum. It is quite marvelours inside the elephant shaped museum;
The structure itself is the biggest.

It is located on Sukhumvit Road, about 3 Kms. from Samutprakan Province in Thailandmillennium period.

This is Wat Pho the largest...

by R.Dettmann

This is Wat Pho the largest Wat of Bangkok, and is technically the oldest too. It is also famous as Thailand's first university, and it is the traditional national center for the preservation and teaching of traditional Thai massage. The huge reclining Buddha and the most number of Buddha in Thailand.(more than 1000 Buddha) are unique qualities of that place.

ABOUT YOUR PACKING LIST

by joiedevivre

ABOUT YOUR PACKING LIST

Your clothes should match with :

The weather

. the hot season (March/May).
Cotton clothes will do. Avoid all kind of polyester materials.

. the rainy season (June/October)
Only umbrellas will make the difference.

. the fresh season (November/February).
It will not be that cold for you but don't be surprised to see woollen clothes sold in local markets. A sweater can be useful in the evening.

Your activities

Whether you are going for a trekking, a boat trip, a party, always think about what are the most practical clothes to wear. But for a visit in a temple, only long pants/shirts/skirts/dresses are accepted.

For the backpackers, good shoes and comfortable clothes should be the priority.

Anyway, don't overcharge yourself with clothes because you can find all kind of clothes here for a cheap price.

As the Thai people are very neat, you should be the same as a guest in their country.
