The best time for visiting most of Thailand is between October and February - during these months it is not too hot. The south is best visited
when the rest of Thailand is uncomfortably hot (April to June), and the north is best from mid-September
to early March or when it starts warming up again in April. If you're spending time in Bangkok,
be prepared to be roasted in April and get soaked in anytime during October - January.
The peak tourist months are December and August, and the least crowded months
are May, June and September-it's rainny season and a lot of flood in some year.
Thai Visas
by Unknownsu
Pretty much everyone needs a visa to enter the Thai kingdom. Luckily however, citizens from most countries can receive a 30 day visa upon arrival at the Don Muang airport free of charge. If in doubt, check with the nearest Thai embassy located to you.
The official Thai name of Bangkok is in the Guiness Book of Records as the longest place name in the world. If you want to impress your friends, try memorizing this:
Krungthep Mahanakorn Boworn Rattanakosin Mahintharayuttha Mahadilokpop Noparatratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniveymahasathan Amornpiman Avatransathit Sakkathattiay-avisnukarmprasit.
What it means: "Great city of angels; the repository of divine gems; the great land unconquerable; the grand and prominent realm; the royal and delightful capital full of nine noble gems; the highest royal dwelling and grand palace; the divine shelter and living place of reincarnated spirits."
The city is just better known as Krung Thep or City of Angels.
