Great accomodation

This was an excellent hotel so central to the shopping, there is shopping under the hotel and fantastic markets one minutes walk from the hotel.
Lots of Australians stay here, not that it mattered to us, the Hotel has a real atmosphere of being in Thailand (not a western feel) which is what we wanted to experience.
the food was good and service excellent.

Unique Quality: close to great shopping!

June not such as bad as that !

Hello all, I stayed in this ok "a bit dated hotel" but I utterly enjoyed the comfort and cleanliness. The staff were always helpful and charming. Yes the breakfast might be a bit över-cooked" but all hotels catering for a lot of people the food is always not easy to master. The pool on the 4th floor was very quaint and considering the price I paid I couldn't have asked for better, to come home to a quiet cool hotel room after the mayhem in the streets. Old-style can have it's charm, it slows you down. And come on it's not THAT "passé". Anyway I enjoyed it thoroughly it and am well traveled. Cheers globe-trotters

Bangkok's best clothes shopping

I've stayed at the Indra Regent probably 8 times over the past years en route to the UK from Australia each way. Some of the reviews I'v, e seen are hardly generous, more mean spirited I would suggest. The hotel is fine for what you need. It's clean comfortable and friendly. For what you are paying Max $80 you couldn't get a shoe box in NY or London. It's great value. The location for clothes shopping is unbeatable, Pratunam Markets straight across the road. I've seen plenty of retailers from Sth Africa stocking up big...clothes are so cheap..but I'll bet the markup back in Sth Africa is 500% on top!
The best thing is the Chandlier Bar on the mezzanine floor, terrific entertainment, great laugh, very friendly and the best Irish coffee in the world ( with entertainment). I can't speak highly enough for a tourist - mid range hotel it's great value for money. Don't take any clothes, or luggage. Buy them while you're here and then stay at the Sheraton on your next trip if you want.

Unique Quality: Pool is a great retreat from the hectic noise and traffic.

Great hotel for nearby shopping

The nicest thing about Indra is that all the shopping is so close, it's basically in front of the hotel! The rooms are a bit old looking, but clean. The breakfast buffet is ample, but in an outdoor setting, so best come early when it is still cool. There is a pool, but I never used it. Nearby massage areas are priced reasonably well.

Unique Quality: Near the shopping areas.

Everything it says it is

The hotel had undergone a refurbishment from our last visit and the improvements were noticeable.
Excellent locations and fantastic staff. Very helpful when dealing with injuries-

Unique Quality: Pool wasn't anything special but it was relaxing after a day out in bangkok. Dance show and dinner was enjoyable. Breakfast was an absolute delight. The staff even made a special party cake for both times we have had a birthday at this hotel. Little touches like that make a holiday.
Very easy to get around from.

Not too good!!

I would not recommend this hotel. It was booked by our travel agent, as it was located near all the shopping areas, which was our only reason for visiting Bangkok after visiting Phuket. The hotel is in dire need of a refurbishment. The passages were noisy, pillows were like slabs of bricks and the breakfast was cooked about 2 days before serving. I do not have ONE good comment for this hotel. I will NOT stay there again.

Unique Quality: Nothing to to add.

Great Value hotel

Everything we were looking for at a reasonable price.Rooms clean, breakfasts good, with very good variety.Staff have always been friendly. I have stayed at this hotel on 3 of my 6 visits to Bangkok. Central location, but walk up to the Skytrain, as it is quicker than taking a taxi.

Unique Quality: Centrally located, not far from World Trade Centre and Skytrain station. Pratnum market right next door.

Not the best - You can do better

We booked a triple room before travelling and were told that we would have Queen size bed and a single, on arrival the single turned out to be a trundle/fold-away bed.

The Hotel is in need of a makeover, the halls have a stale smell. The rooms are just adaquate, with a fairly noisy air conditioning, toilets are noisy and hear when other rooms flush.

The location is good for shopping if you want to stay local, to use the train system its is a good 15 min walk to one or the other station, with the climate and polution being what it is, this is not that pleasant.

Breakfast's were the standard buffet type on an open air patio.

There is a shopping plaza below the hotel, which is fairly ordinary.

The front of the hotel is an excellent place to a catch a taxi or tuk tuk, dont stand still to long as you will be offered all the "other" differing services available in Bangkok.

There is a 7-11 across the street for fresh milk if you get sick of creamer.

The hotel appears to cater for a certain southern asian clientele. I assume there was an Indian Tailors convention being held at the time of our visit.

Unique Quality: None. All very tired.

Any red shirt camps near Indra Regent Hotel?

Re: Indra Regent.

by Mali_05

It's just around 15 minutes walk to red shirt camp in Rajprasong inter section.

Good luck!

i just came back from bkk last night and i stayed at baiyoke (pratunam area) and i had no problems whatsoever with safety. shops are still open, although some are closed for a few days due to songkran holidays. i still saw the red shirts passing by here and there but it's still pretty much safe.
