  • Nice location, good price a bit old

Perfect location for shopping, it's in the midlle of Pratunam district the best place for textiles.
It's very close to the shopping centers district (less than 1 km).

Unique Quality: The rooms are quite big, but they have a kind of moisture smell all around.
Good service and nice bar where you can take good sandwiches or coffe.
Breakfast is ok, the swimming pool is not very invitant.
Nevere take taxes in front of the facade but walk along the road and take a running one .

    Great Location

While not the best hotel in Bangkok, the location and the value for money is good. Would recommend to someone like me who loves to shop in cheap places like the Pratunam markets.

Unique Quality: Great location just in front of the Pratunam markets. Easy walk of other locations like the Pantip Plaza.

Directions: Just accross the Pratunam Markets.

Right in the Middle of everything

The Indra Regent was a great place to stay due to its wonderfull location, right in the shopping district. Everything was great, they looked after all our needs and nothing was to much trouble.
Please reed my other topic on this Hotel for more information.

Unique Quality: The hotel has everything you will need, swimming pool, sauna, spa, great resturants and bar and coffe lounge, the rooms where clean and large and had good views of the city.

    Directions: Shopping district of Bangkok

    back to the 70s

The hotel definitely had seen better days. The facade of the building was very old and dirty. The lobby was nice and modern though with high ceilings and a grand staircase leading up to the mezzanine floor. Stepping out of the elevator and into the guest room's hallway, you'd think you'd boarded a time machine, for the decor was decidedly very 70s. It smelled too. The guest room was, again, smelled stuffy. The bed was hard, the tv had no remote, the glasses looked as if it hadn't been changed since the 70s that I dared not used it, the window looked badly in need of a wash, oh I could go on and on, thank God the towels were whites, fresh, and clean.

Breakfasts were served on the nice and airy garden terrace. There were many choices but the taste was nothing to write home about. The friendliness of the staff was the only salvaging qualities of this hotel IMHO. I have to agree with one VT member that the hotel is in need of an upgrade badly. As far as location goes, this hotel sits smack in the heart of Pratunam with its wholesale market that was always crowded day and night.

If you're looking for just a place to crash in at night and take showers, then I'd certainly recommend this hotel for its great location. But if you're looking for a modern hotel, with first class facilities then I'd advise you to steer clear of this one.

Unique Quality: - located in the heart of Pratunam market, a haven for shoppers and bargain hunters
    - the rooms on upper floors have great views of Bangkok and the Pratunam market.

    Directions: Pratunam

    Indra Regent Hotel

You book a trip from SA and you are bound to be booked into this hotel. Very nice hotel, centrally situated with a lovely market as you exit the hotel.

Unique Quality: Located in the middle of shoppers paradise, nice pool to cool down in.

    The Indra Regent Hotel

2000 baht a room per night. It has excellent restaurants and the Chandalier bar is a great place to relax in at night. They make the best Irish coffees!!

Unique Quality: We always stay here now after trying a few other hotels, but the Indra is excellent for its location...close to the markets where you can get really cheap clothing, and the street markets are right there. The closest sky train station is only 5 minutes walk or a short tuk tuk ride away.

Directions: It is located next to the Pratunam markets and 5 minutes walk to the World Trade Centre.

If you want close to shopping this is it!!

The Indra Regent in Bangkok is a great place to stay -very clean, but not vey expensive. They rate at 3 1/2 stars.
We got a better room the 2nd time we stayed here.

Unique Quality: They have a great introduction to Thai culture on the first night you are there. You have a traditional Thai meal in a teak house in the hotel complex and watch a show of Thai dancing. Very good.
The hotel in situated within a very large shopping complex of 250 shops and literally on the doorstep of the extensive Pratunam markets. 500 rooms with aircon - you'll need it!

This is a map of the area...

This is a map of the area which the Indra Regent is in. I took this map from the Baiyoke Sky web page, so the Indra Regent isn't on it. But it is on Rajaprarop Road, right next to the Shopping Arcade. It took only about 10 minutes to walk to the World Trade Centre, and about 20 to Siam Centre where we went to Hardrock Cafe.

i just came back from bkk last night and i stayed at baiyoke (pratunam area) and i had no problems whatsoever with safety. shops are still open, although some are closed for a few days due to songkran holidays. i still saw the red shirts passing by here and there but it's still pretty much safe.
