Budget Hotel

I love going to this hostel whenever I am on a budget trip. The reservations people is so accommodating and gives you a response right away. The place is not an upscale hostel and will really just offer clean sheets, aircon (with no temp control) decent CR with hot shower, local tv channels. This place is for those who are in a controlled budget and just needs a place to sleep at. Food in the lower ground area is okay, good enough to feed a grumbling tummy.

Noise from the streets can be a little concern for those who want peace and quiet but then....its a budget hotel. There's a computer that can be rented at the ground floor so its not really a problem to connect, they say they are WIFI ready (pay a certain cost of course) but have not really tried it.

Unique Quality: This hostel is just below the BTS National Stadium station which makes it soo accessible to places. Walking distance to Mahbookroong (MBK) and the train brings you wherever you want to go. The steps up to the lobby are not so friendly to elders or those who have knee problems due to its steepness.

It is also near some convenience stores and a cafeteria which sells local food at a minimum cost. In the afternoon, street food vendors are lined up near the hostel so food does not need to be a problem. Krit Thai also has a sister travel company which is near the hostel. Very affordable packages compared to other agents I've talked to.

Krit Thai Mansion - very reasonable

If you are a budget traveller, I recommend Krit Thai Mansion. I've recommended the place to a few of my visiting academics from abroad. It's on Rama i rd, next door to Siam Square, MBK center, and the sky train is just next door.
Their home page is below. It is quite cheap.

Krit Thai Mansion

The rooms are simple. There are no special facilities such as a pool or massage service.

BUT the plus point is that it is just a 5 mins walk to Mah Boon Krong (MBK) shopping centre. And the rates are cheap. I was offered 900 Baht for a standard room of 2 beds. It is cheap and yet convenient. Also, the Skytrain is at my doorstep, making it easy to go to places like Chatuchak.

Only 1 minor issue. Taxis are unwilling to fetch you back to hotel if you are done clubbing at RCA. Not sure the reason, but I believe that there are no customers around the area after they drop you off.

Unique Quality: 1) Near Main Shopping District like MBK

2) National Stadium Skytrain Station at the hotel doorstep

3) Cheap!!!

Probably the best hotel I ever stayed.

Four words to describe my experience with this hotel: "I SIMPLY LOVE IT !!!"

2 minutes from BTS national stadium, it is simply the best hotel to stay if you looking for a hotel to stay. 4-5 minutes to Jim Thompson house, and 4 minutes to MBK. My estimation is accurate and when I mean 2 minutes, it mean 2 minutes of slow walk and not 2 minutes of sprinting.

During my week long stay, there is no unpleasant experience and everything is very happy. The room is very clean and quite big. It has a bath tub and hot and cold water is provided. There are 4 receptionists and all are very professional in their job. They speak good English and we are able to understand each other with ease. One big plus point about this hotel is that it is reasonable cheap, 900 baht for day (S$30++). If you stay for a week, it will be cheaper by 10%.

Last thing to mention is about that it has tour service. Just ask the receptionist for the tour information booklet and the book has all tours that is available. For example, a tour to dreamworld cost 890 baht per person and I do not think that any tour agency is cheaper than that.

Anyone who stayed before in family room in this hotel please email maisatomai@hotmail.com to tell me more about it. Thanks in advance.

Convenient to Stay-In

(date stayed - Feb. 8 -17, 2004)

If you are a crazy-shopper and don't want to stay in Khao San Road....this mansion is highly recommended 'coz it is near Maboonkrong (MBK) and Siam Square!!! Yet, you don't need to take bus or tuktuk in order to reach the station 'coz from your accommodation, you will reach the National Stadium Station with several steps.

550 Baht/night for double room with aircon, hot & cold shower and with TV and Refrigerator

You will get discount if you stay for a week!

MUANG PHOL MANSION - Siam

As you enter Soi Kasemsan 1, Muangphol Mansion is the first Hotel on the left hand side. There are 78 rooms.
The restaurant is comfortable serving lunch set (fried rice & pad thai with drinks) at 35 Bhat. Rooms have Airconditioning and hot water. Prices range from 450-600 Baht per night or from 10,000 15,000 Baht per month. The rooms are old and dirty compared to other hostels I've stayed in the same soi.

I stayed at Krit Thai Mansion a long time ago. I think it is over priced. The location is not too good. Not close to anything but the national stadium. It has central air conditioning and you must call the desk to turn it on or off in your room. The food is OK. It is a clean hotel.
