 | Bangkok Mandarin Reviews | Tips 1 - 10 of 10 | | WONDERFUL! This hotel is first class, naturally. We booked a special package in the Garden Wing at $299 a night in 1999. We had a 2 level room with a small breakfast nook, 24 hour butler service, etc. There isn't much need to go into details. This is a 5 star hotel and that's what you'll get.
The chandelier was so pretty! Drops of colored class in between clear crystal. Very nice. This was definately a splurge. We don't normally spend this much but it was our special hotel for the trip and I was doing the spa day, etc. and we were having Thanksgiving dinner at Lord Jims. It was just wonderful. We stayed at the Mandarin Hotel because of a good deal we got in Holland for the "Executives", that was great! Basic, Midrange or Luxury, ... we just had a luxury stay. In fact the ***Mandarin hotel, a business-oriented one, is in the heart of Bangkok at Rama IV Rd. That is close to Siam Square and MBK, and not that far from Silom and Pat Pong. SkyTrain is close by and plenty of taxis in front of hotel ... ... it is NOT Mandarin Oriental!
AC rooms with colour, satellite TV (UBC), fridge, phone, and great bathroom with hairdryer. Room service is 24 hrs. and laundry same day, 24 hrs. Coffee Shop, too! Try home-made cookies, are delicious. oow,... the guys and dolls were so friendly! Ehm... meaning the Hotel staff ... I liked this hotel. It was cheap, a 4 star hotel, the rooms were comfortable, the food was good and also that during my stay, few other Indians had come to stay here. Theme: HotelPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageWebsite: http://www.hotels2thailand.com

This hotel is good value for money, i only paid 2000baht for a twin room (with discount, usual 2600 baht for twin room). It is within 5-10 mins walk fm Papong and within 10-15mins walk to MBK. More ever, it is located across the street from the underground train. There is a temple there as well, which has nice architecture and is big. The hotel has a swimming pool, comes with complimentary international breakfast, which is not that great, but satisfatory. The hotel staff is helpful. The bathroom is clean, and the room has a fridge, tv and dressing table. the only bad thing is the air con takes quite a while to cool the room and is not cold enough. A very pleasant experience. Gorgeous & sumptuous receptions, lovely restaurants & cafes, good boutiques, very clean throughout, spacious, good rooms & bathrooms. Nice, well-maintained swimming pool & fitness room. Excellent location, 4 minutes walk to Sam Yan MRT underground station, 15 minutes walk to Hualampong Mainline station. 10 minutes walk to Patpong area for the markets. Silom (MRT) is another 2 minutes from there, and Sala Daeng BTS skytrain another 2 minutes away. If you keep going straight from Silom after about 8 minutes you reach Lumpini Night Market, a lot more orderly than Chatuchak, which is a lot farther. From Rama IV if you head straight north, MBK, Siam Square are about 15 minutes walk.
Amazing buffet breakfasts. Whatever you can think of, they had here, both hot & cold! Tremendous value for money. 3-star rated but better than many London 5-stars! Pretty attentive staff, safe deposit boxes, several themed restaurants, coffee lounges, large reception rooms. Can host functions for upto 1500 guests in just 1 huge room!! Central, yet quiet location, away from crowded markets and touts. You will see the old wing of the hotel on the right, in front of you. It's at the corner of Si Phraya & Rama IV. 4 minutes walk from Sam Yan MRT underground.Website: www.mandarin-bkk.com Other Contact: Fax: (662) 2371620
