The Montien Riverside

Staff were brilliant. I would definitely recommend it but not to stay for the whole time as it is a bit far off the city and the nightlife and the the shopping! It is close to get to the Chaturchak market though - trains and hotel shuttle will do the trick.

The hotel also provides a shuttle to the Patpong night market! That's a lot of fun and touristy. Bargain like crazy though. It's one of the pricier markets.

Unique Quality: Wonderful view of the Chao Phraya river. If you want to get good pictures stay here. We stayed on the 22 floor and had a great great view. This was our last 2 nights in Bangkok and we splurged on some 5 star accomodation. Food at breakfast was great. We also had lunch in the hotel. Ala Carte, Vietnamese and Thai food - this was bad. We both had a tummy ache after eating at the restaurant - nothing major though. We had a deluxe room which again meant a lot of space a King bed, nice big (huge) bath, fruit basket and flowers in the room. Good TV channels. All in all worth every penny of the US80 per night.

The Heart of Bangkok!!

Excellent. there is so much to do in Bangkok. We only had three days there but in the Montien the staff booked all the site seeing trips for us! The night cruise is a must!!! Dine and Cruise at the same time on an old wooden traditional Thai barge. The food was fantastic and there was traditional entertainment to follow. FAntastic costumes!!

The hotel was fantastic. Food was excellent and Thai Massage is a must, though cheaper on the beach or street (just be wary of the street masseuses!!!)

Unique Quality: Very accessible to city centre. All the tours were very early but we were picked up and dropped off at the front door!!

Patt Pong Market is a must!!! and the city and temple tours gives you a great insight into Thai culture and all the important points of the City.

hello fenarro.. about the hotel in Bangkok, is it very well located? I think the prices are great and I am looking for a hotel for my honeymoon in thailand. Is this hotel close to a skytrain station? is it safe?
I am also going to Phuket but staying at the JW Marriott.

Hi gaby21,

The hotel I'd recommend the most for your upcoming honeymoon trip (congratulations!) is the Marriot Resort by the banks of the river. Its very reasonably priced (around 100$) Its a magnificient place with georgeous gardens, a great pool, and wonderful restaurants (5 or 6). They are a10 minute shuttle boat ride away (free Marriot boat) from the last station on the BTS skytrain (at Thaksin bridge by the ShangriLa hotel).

Thank you jajabor. I actually booked a room in the JW Marriot, however, the price they are giving me is $120 without taxes. Do you know of any site where I can find better prices?

You're welcome.

I usually use asiarooms.com for the best rates and selection. A word of caution re these Asian online booking svcs - they have pretty restrictive cancellation policies. Usually flexible about changing dates and all, but difficult to communicate with once a booking is done.

If Marriot won't budge from that price, make sure you get a river-facing room on the higher floors (third floor+ ; I think they only have 4 or 5 floors as I can recall).

Its well locates, is not very near to the skytrain station, but is well located, i recomended. The have buses for the guest, so they live you if you want in the train station.
