This is where we normally stay during our yearly visit to Bangkok and it is very much preferred due to its proximity to almost anywhere. The hotel is located within the enclosed area of Siam Square, a hip and trendy shopping and entertainment area for the young.
The hotel is a short walking distance away from MBK, the Sky Train stations, Siam Center, and Henri Dunant Ave (?), the road leading to Silom and Patpong.
Taxi cabs are plentiful and the many shops that line the main and side streets are worth looking into (there is a Nike shop next door).
Unique Quality: The staff are very accommodating - expecially their doormen Mr. Kosol and his partner. The rooms are quite spacious and well maintained. The breakfast buffet has quite a spread but after several days (we normally stay 5-6 days) it becomes repetetive since the menu does not seem to change.
One comment: our flight from Manila often arrive Bangkok lunchtime and when we arrive at the hotel, they make us wait for an hour or two before our room becomes ready to be occupied. I guess they have a strict policy regarding check in time but maybe for frequent guests, they can facilitate matters.
I toured a room while I was staying at the Westin, and it reminded me of the room at the M Hotel in Singapore. Clean, contemporary decor. And reasonable priced.
So when I had to spend 1 night in BKK to travel home in the morning, I stayed at the Novotel. However the room I received was NO where near as nice as the room I had toured. And looked NOTHING like the room view from their website....It smelled bad, and the door would not close. I switched rooms and the second one was much better. - still smelled.
Room was slightly dated and worn. I would not stay here again. The location is VERY congested in the early evening. However you are close to shopping areas and there are lots of tourists here. Hard Rock Cafe in walking distance.
Well what can i say? Great location and breakfast is good too!
Behind the hotel is Hard Rock Cafe and a young and hip shopping belt, where there are lotsa cafes and little shops.
Not to mention that there are quite a few reputable and price-reasonable spa/massage centres right besides the hotel, just a few steps away!
It's walking distance to MBK, World Trade Centre & Pratunam, and the Siam Sq BTS is right in front. But no worries, it's not noisy.
All in all, this hotel is value for money, if you cash to spare, you certainly should stay at this Novotel on Siam Sq, Service is excelllent.
Directions: Alight at Siam Sq BTS
Very brightly lighted hotel. Good service with friendly counter staff. A very nice lobby and spacious rooms. Nice view too.
Unique Quality: Very good location, walking distance to World Trade Centre, S OGO, MBK and Siam Bonanza. 3mins walk to the MRT (Siam station). Great international breakfast, i love the omelette.
Fresh fruit breakfast at Novotel Bangkok
As Pathuwan Princess is full full full, I will be booking Novotel Siam Square. Is the hotel conveniently located? Any reviews abt the hotel?
I would say "too conveniently located" to describe this hotel, as it is connected to the Siam station. And Siam station is the interchange station, which means you can go everywhere without too much transit.
Besides, just opposite the hotel, you will find the Siam Centre and Siam Discovery Centre, where there are foods, clothings, home decors, etc to be offered in these shopping centres. Passing through Siam Discovery Centre and crossing the junction using the bridge, you will get to MBK centre, i.e. where Pathumwan Princess is located. MBK centre is a very localized shopping centre, with a lot of cheap apparels there, but then they have a Japanese department store, Tokyu there.
Haven't stayed there, but it's a very convenient location for shopping indeed. As well as Siam Center & MBK, Central World Plaza (aka World Trade Center) is not that far away.
Frommers like this hotel, see:
stayed in that hotel years ago. good hotel, it gave me a good view of bangkok from my hotel room. as mentioned, it is very conveniently located along sukhomvit road which is the main road of bangkok that stretches for miles. very near shopping areas, train station, restaurants etc.
i hope you will be met at the airport. otherwise if you take a cab, specify Siam Square because there is another Novotel Hotel at the other end of sukhomvit road (near queen sirikit convention center).
it'll be great if your planning on doing a lot of shopping. there are a lot of cool, funky shops at ground level below the siam station.
i prefer staying at chateau de bangkok down the road from ploen chit station ( i think just 2 stops from siam).
i booked over the internet this past feb. and paid @2000baht, might be cheaper in the summer. it's a quieter neighborhood, near some embassies. really nice rooms, w/ fridge, sink & a couch and an awesome roof-top pool/gym with a nice view.
your also closer to really good street food.
Thanks so much for your comments and reviews.
