Food treats
by thedouglas
Holidaying in Asia with the children for the first time required some accommodation for their wary palates. Our family made an almost daily trek to Khao San Road whilst in Bangkok, for food, shopping and massage. The most popular treat for us was the banana pancakes from this lady - and her protege(s). Great treat for 30 to 40Bt, depending on the amount of toppings - ie. with or without condensed milk and chocolate!
River Cruise-from Marriott Hotel - Thaksin Bridge
by Audrey118
Well, we were on the river many times. With the hotel, we took a river cruise on the Manohra rice barge for dinner...it was rather romantic...even though there are lots of other people...27 guests...but you have your private table and can have a nice spicy meal and enjoy the cruise at night. They also offer sunset cruise with cocktails at THB1400.
You can also get ot Sathorn Pier and jump on any river cruise, or even jump on the long tail boat and try to figure out places with a good map. The picture here is of King Taksin Bridge, which is very close to the Shangrila Hotel and Sathorn BTS skytrain station. It is also known as the Sathorn Bridge and this two span bridge was completed in 1976.
The bridge marks the beginning of the Chao Phraya River fabulous Golden League - 3 km of architectural miralces.....
Pre Paid Mobile Phone in Bangkok 3

True Move (formerly Orange) : True Move is relatively new to the Thai market but is the cheapest provider around, they were the ones who unleashed the price battle in 2005 with their "Just Talk" package. However since they are new they often have capacity problems and coverage outside of Bangkok is not as good as the other two networks.

Thai Version of "Chicharrones"
by machomikemd
Chicharrones is a popular dish that originated in Spain and became popular in Latin America, Philippines, Guam, Mexico and others. The singular form, chicharrón, is also used as a mass noun. They are usually made with different cuts of pork, but sometimes made with ram meat. In Puerto Rico chicharrones are also made with chicken, in Argentina with beef, and in Peru with chicken or fish. The pork rind type is the skin of the pork after it has been seasoned and deep fried. In Mexico they are eaten in a taco or gordita with salsa verde. In Latin America they are eaten alone as a snack, with cachapas, as a stuffing in arepas or pupusas, or as the meat portion of various stews and soups.
This Thai version of Chicharrones, called chainarong differs primarily from Spanish Type in that it is Very Thin in texture but is also crispy. It costs 100 baht (3 USD) a 250 mg pack and is available everwhere. I bought this at Siam Paragon.
How to Wai
by Sharrie
How to Wai: The Thai greeting is known as Wai. It involves pressing one's palms together & lifted towards the chin. Generally, the inferior party initiates the wai & holds the greeting higher & longer. The superior will then return it accordingly. The general concensus is one should not wai waiters, waitresses, street vendors & children.
