Everytime I stayed in Bangkok I would always end up back at Peachy Guesthouse. The rooms are clean, the internet is cheap, the location is far enough from Khao San Road to get away from the noise and close enough to Rambutri and Khao San to easily have access to everything a traveler needs.
I would definately recommend this place to a backpacker who is on a tight budget and wants value for their baht. Not recommended for families.
Make sure that you ask for a room facing the courtyard (inside) because rooms facing the street can be very noisy.....
Unique Quality: Nothing that unique about it, but the Peachy tour company books cheap trips and buses all over Thailand. The restaurant was just renovated and is a nice touch. Its a perfect distance to the river so you can get to the Skytrain.
The price! dorm B80; single B100; double B160-B350
Its hard to beat those prices...
